How Did You Find The Forums?

Today I was just wondering... How do so many people know about The Forums?

Wil 06-11-2003 05:54 PM

I joined when Sydney first created them. Not the most interesting story in the world. Suffice it to say, this is another opportunity to say that I'm one of the longest standing online Oddworld fans, who is a member of OWF, at least.

Silversnow 06-11-2003 07:37 PM

I tried a link at the OWI and ended up on the old ezboard. I guess a lot of people have.

As most of you would know, Abe Babe got me into Oddworld and she introduced me to the Oddworld community... the best thing ever!

I've only become an active member recently... so if you didn't know I've been here for a lllooonnnggg time :) I used to be known as BigSlig but only posted like 2 times...

This is gonna be one of thoes threads that shall never die.
(which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just look at Picture Requests 1-5 and the Q&A thread)

I just needed the answer to the same question that Abeguy asked about the hands. Then these shmucks wouldn't leave me alone. It's all their fault!

Ah, but what can I say, you guys are great.

(this is also the place where I learned and started using the word "Shmuck")

Majic 06-12-2003 12:08 AM

I looked up Oddworld... Yay.

slig_hunter72 06-12-2003 12:44 AM

I got here off Oddworld.com and my first thought was, "Sweet, an Oddworld Cult for me to join!":D It actually is kind of like an Odd cult here, and I LOVE it!

paramiteabe 06-12-2003 02:09 AM

I am another real old member here aswell. Well not as old as Xavier, Max, Kristen, Justin or Pilot and some other senor members here. But I am getting into my age into this forum.

I joined almost about 2 years ago in November 2001. I always was searching for other sites that were associeted with Oddworld other than Oddworld.com. I wanted to become an active fan. So I found Oddworldian in a search one day in early September of that year. At first I wasn't really hanging around the forums until late October. I just visited Oddworldian for news of Munch and other such Oddworld doings at the time. When I saw the forums for the first time I wanted so badly to be part of this community because I knew I was just a huge OW fan. I couldn't miss out on the oppertunity to talk with other people who have a common interest as I do in Oddworld. Not many around me do. Infact nearly nobody. So I knew I had alot of interesting theories and ideas for Oddworld. I wanted to share them So I simply joined on November 1st 2001 after a dream I had which gave me my name. And thus November 1st 2001 Paramiteabe was born. But I didnt make my first topic until Novemeber 3rd. Ah the good old days, I can remember my first topic. Ever since I have had idea and theory after theory and idea. Some bad some good but I am truely glad I am such an active veteran member here.:D

This was taken from my very first thread I ever created here Novemebr 3rd 2001:

Do you ever wounder what is on the otherside of Oddworld? We only have visited a small part called Mudos. I am thinking what lies beyond Mudos. I think that would really be cool to see. I hope Lanning puts something like that in his future games. perhaps maybe the last game of the Quintology we will find out. What do you think?

Facsimile 06-12-2003 03:07 AM

Hey, you could spell then.

My story is a tale of epic proportions, good versus evil, heros saving damsels in distress, and a morale at the end.
Let me give you a summed up version:
I was sliding across the floor in a bowl of fried chicken when I hit a bank. I deposited some money and the rest is a bit of a blur. All I know is that I'm stuck here and can't get out.
No really, I can't.

Joshy 06-12-2003 03:17 AM

I was trying to destroy Alcar's Life, so the best thing to do i thought up was join the forum in the most unusal name ever then spam alot so Alcar has alot of thing to handle and he will stress out and die.

Hobo 06-12-2003 03:44 PM

I was dead bored. I think my sister was on the Xbox and I was on google. Some how I ended up here. And thats how Google ruined my life........

whElk 06-12-2003 04:24 PM

No I did not know that. I had no idea. I wondered why everyone was calling me 'Fax' but I just couldn't figure it out. Thanks a lot. Really.
I'm such an arsehole.

Now let's have a spelling lesson to get things straight.
The word Facsimile:
F is for the way I like to eat food,
A is for my awesome-osity,
C is for cat descendancy,
S is for circle,
I is for my goodness at speaking Inglish,
M is for mailmen chopping off people's heads with letters,
I is for I've already done this one,
L is for the way I wake up,
E is for everone should learn how to spell my ****ing name right.

There is no more you silly bitch.

Cloverfield 06-13-2003 09:16 AM

*learns to spell* F-A-C-S-M-I-L-E ;)

I was just newly into Oddworld ... and looking for info on the internet. I found the old GT Interactive forums, and some people mentioned "Oddworldian" in their posts. So I hunted some more and finally found the site.

The forums were then an old ezBoard run by Sydney, I actually joined a few days later ... and well, now I find myself here.

Abe Babe...

slig_hunter72 06-13-2003 01:22 PM

AbeBabe, how did you end up here? I thought you made the site! lol:D Anyway, Im more stuck here then I could ever have imagined.

Xavier 06-13-2003 01:39 PM

well I visited Ezboard a couple of time but never figured out how it worked and never posted (I was new at internet back then) I joined a few time after Sydney adopted the vBulletin system...
I found the forum trough Oddworldian, wich I found trough Oddworld.com

Adder 06-14-2003 02:09 PM

Ah, that takes me back!

I think I found it after stumbling accross "oddchat" through a search engine. After about 3 weeks going to oddchat, I searched for "torture chamber" and discovered the story of Shred. After that I finnaly discovered the endless info in the forum section, so I joined.

salty pretzils 06-14-2003 02:25 PM

My friend on here introduced me to it.
Her username was Molluck, but i don't think she posts much any more... :(
And thankyou for the spelling lesson Facsmile.

Al the Vykker 06-14-2003 02:52 PM

My story is similar to Xavs.

For several months I used to visit three sites for oddworld information, screenshots, etc. Those were oddworld.com, oddworld.au, and Sydney's original site Oddworldian. One day during the summer when the site had only a dozen members or so I would look around, mainly if there was any screenshots or new information I could find. But I never joined, my email address still wasnt up yet(plus it was not working, when it finally was up). So in turn, I waited until it was getting closer to Munches Oddysee's release in the U.S., a month to be exact and joined in October of 2001. At the time I even remember the original version of Vb. on the forums had our member numbers. Mine(yes I still remember it :p ) was member # 392. Although if you look at the members list, most of those people who joined over that summer(besides the actual members who did post, reply, etc.) up to when I joined, never actually posted a single reply, or even accessed their accounts. For more details look at the member list. Its been a long time though, 2 years this october. Anyways enough of my babbling I'm done.

Well...

Well, about 2 years ago, my mum gave in to our constant begging for her to get us internet acsess, and, one day, as I was well into the oddworld games I tiped oddworld into a google search, and found a really ancient version of Oddworld.au.com with a really long name. from there I found a link to the forums, where I clicked a few random buttons without really paying much attention to what I was doing. I eventually found a thread about what would happen if you got characters from Oddworld to fight characters from pokamon. I read it and tried to post, but found I couldn't and had no idea why, so I left the site, my head hanging low.
Anyway, about 6 months later I found the present version of oddworld.au.com on a google search, and found a link to our well known fancorner. I read a loafd of fics, looked at some art, and decided I wanted to be a part of it, so I joined, before I'de even left fan corner. It was at least a month before I posted my own story and acctually acnoledged the fact that there were other parts of the forums. And the rest is just history...

(Please excuse the cheesy ending!)

Ashe 06-16-2003 03:06 AM

Hello everyone. I did find Oddworld Forums from Abe Babe. I am not a very big Oddworld fan like many, I do like this place a lot, so I continue to post here.

Abeguy 06-17-2003 03:22 AM

Wolfpac 06-19-2003 01:12 AM

I think I wanted to know why Abe was blue or if Abe was male or female or something like that. Then I found the EZBoard through Oddworldian and that was that. Nothing special.

Gryph the Slig 06-19-2003 01:26 AM

I got bored one day, went to the oddworld.com page, and started clicking links. I don't really remember the rest, but somehow I ended up here. :D

Alcar 06-19-2003 03:42 AM
