An Oddworld RTS game?

Firstly, hey all.

It was mentioned a while ago on the net about the idea of a oddworld real time strategy game. In my mind that'd be pretty cool, so long as it was done right. And after Munch came out, I started thinking more about the idea. Maybe, there could be three sides to play in the game, the Natives (mudokons, gabbits, muddles, scrabs, fuzzles etc.), the Industrialists (glukkons, sliggs, kintos, slogs etc.) and Vykers Pharmecuticals (vyker lab workers, interns, scientists, with technology, lab fuzzles etc.)
Any thoughts? Pros, cons? Or just basically tell me hop aboard Vykers and get disected myself? :fuzsad:

Welcome!

Hi Ratz! Yeah, It was called Hand Of Odd. I think OWI put it aside for something new. I don't know anything else except that you could play as The Land Muggers(Industrialists) and The Tree Huggers(Natives). Maybe Some of the more experienced members know more.

Hand of Odd began production at the same time as Munch's Oddysee, and to illustrate the two projects being side-by-side, OWI reinvented their logo to depict two embryos inside some kind of egg. However, as time progressed, OWI focused their efforts on Munch's Oddysee, Hand of Odd was put on the back-burner, and all official mention of it slowly fizzled away.

True to Oddworld form, gameplay would probably not have involved menus and forms to get in the way of the action. Also, there were going to be three sides to play with, although what those three sides were is not known. Most likely it would have been the Natives, the Magog Cartel and the Vykkers Conglomerate. Early press releases highlighted the use of co-operative strategies - the latter two parties could of course work out business deals. Or, of course, they could have eliminated each other as competition. So there were going to be three sides.

Think of Hand Of Odd as....kinda like Age of Empires, but alot funner. You choose a race, build it up and become more powerful. Now how you become more powerful is all up to you. If you choose the Natives (Treehuggers) you can either nurture the enviorment and gain more spiritual type powers or start ruining it for Moohla and gain some more modernized strength. The same way kinda works for the Industrialists (Landmuggers) as well.

BTW, I haven't seen ya in awhile Max! How have things been?

I heard somewhere that you could be a simple mud and join a group of rebels and the blow up a factory that an other player made (as glukkon) but I can't remember if it was HoO or an other multiplayer game
