the true meaning of the oddworld quintology
from the MO manual:
http://www.oddworld-fr.com/banque_images/0002.jpg Oddworld Munch's Oddysee is the second part in the five part quintology {pause: so Munch's adventure was a part, not a game} Each game reveals more about this strange and bizarre universe that is Oddworld and it's varied inhabitants. {pause: universe or world? odd or bizarre?} Future games of the quintology introduce new dilemmas, new villains, and new unlikely heroes. {pause: these clues are drawing us closer, look carefully} be forewarned the inhabitants live on oddworld together, as the story unfolds, creatures that are overlooked could be really important to the big picture. {pause: aha! we overlooked slurgs and fleeches eh? Squeek?} Oddworld is so big we've barely scratched the surface and explored the depths of the ODD. ok let's think this over, many clues here, ive given hints, find the rest yourselves, look carefully. |
Yea what about a Fuzzle being over looked? And I mean one and only one Fuzzle. Thats odd then you have the not so important Glukkons that are in the games too being over looked.

No but if one Fuzzle was suppose to do something important then why not have it overlooked?
You can never tell with Oddworld. It takes us all on surprise. |
I just have to say this... By overlooked, I don't think they're meaning something like slurgs, fleeches or fuzzles or something. Honestly, it would be lame to play like that. Most likely, it'd be something relatively reasonable to control and use. Jeebers.

majic is right in most accounts, i think squeek, if there is squeek, would be an unknown creature, but still the statement of overlooked creatures is very important
|
What about something with the BigFace being over looked? Ever since AO I always thought BigFace might have this more important role than what we all think he has later on in the Quintology. Sure his dealings with Abe are no longer needed but what if they are still needed somehow? What if Abe needs him again for something?
In a way we all are overlooking that character. We seem to have put him to the side and ignored him. Could there be more to the BigFace than meets the eye? I always thought so ever since AO at least. But we don't know. |
I think overlooked characters just mean stuff like Abe was a simple janitor who turns out to be a messiah with magic powers. Munch, the last of his kind who happen to be frog-fish, who's eggs are eaten as caviar.
It's the story of how normal joes become heroes. Joes = Heroes. Like Ghostbusters, normal guys, amazing ghost fighters. So, yeah, overlooked characters are ones that don't seem extroirdinary. I don't think it's ones we've already met, just ones that we wouldn't expect would be a hero. I mean, how many times have YOU seen a janitor and thought 'Wow, he's superman.' |
well thats not oddworld's style they prefer to do stuff with known characters, besides superheroes enjoy changing in janitor closets

well no not true examples, but like abe, mudokons were lowely slaves, abe wouldn't be anythin' if his curiosity didn't bring him to the board room. so we have some examples, but i guess yer right there are no "true" examples, sorry, it's just the feeling i get
|
Bigface isn't going to show up again... He was pretty much just the dude for AO. Some characters are just made for one time purposes, you know? Sometimes I think people here get so desperate for ideas that they just think up of unreasonable type things...
Ratz has it down. Go Ratz. |
I think the Ratz will play a large role in one of the games, because they are super overlooked.
Have you guys noticed those huge skeletons in MO on the ground in the level Brewery To Be? They are bigger then any known Oddworld creature. OI actually confirmed that this will be a creature in one of the upcoming games. Hmmmm...... That skeleton is sure overlooked. |
They're barely overlooked because everyone talks about them so much. I think it's more likely they were just thrown into those two levels as one of those hidden special things were were put into the game, like the hint flies at the start of the Mudokon Pens and the 'The Wall' parody in the Boiler Room. However, it would be nice if there was an explanation as to their being there. I personally think it's because parts of the wilderness are prone to flooding, but I digress.
By overlooked characters I'm positive OWI are referring to characters and species we've already looked at and have disguarded as having any significance in the future, but who actually will impact the storyline in future games. I could give examples, but I know how nasty it is to have future plots revealed - it's like the early hype for MO ruining what we actually got. Especially since OWI are keeping absolutely everything under wraps right now. |
