Account activation emails?

Question...

When I registered for these forums, it took me about 2 days to recieve my account activation email. This is definitely the longest time I've ever waited for an account activation email of any type. Was this due to heavy traffic on the forums, my connection (satellite, very fast, has a tendency to go out on occasion though), or a bug? Thanks.

Account Activation Emails are not sent out automactically. The Administrative Staffers (Me and Abe Babe) go through each account and match it to any previous IPs. This is so we don't get double sign ups or spammer bots.

Oi! Who you calling lazy. It probably was when I was off for a few days anyway.

Anyway, some people don't get account activation emails because the SMTP (mail) part of the server we are on is stuffed. The server admin tried to fix it ages ago, but it just didn't work. It recognizes some email addresses and not others. So what happens is that if the mail server doesn't accept the address, it bounces back to my own email account. Then I have to resend the activation email to the user.

I'm looking at changing servers soon, so hopefully this won't be a problem for too much longer.

After you activate the account, then we validate the account (this is the part that Alcar was referring to).
