new species

On MO on the parimite run level there is a huge skeliton. I think its a sea rex moved out of the sea does everyone agree.

Oddsville 05-29-2003 04:13 PM

Awhile back we determinded that it is not a Sea-Rex but something else. Try using the search option of the forums to find the old relec of a topic and..well...read it.

from Dear Alf

:

Q: Hey Alf, I was just wondering in Munch's Oddysee there is a huge skeleton bone in the Paramite Run stage, I was just wondering if you could clear that one up... There is no creature in Oddworld that big that I have seen yet... Is that Searex I have heard a little about ..and one more question please...if Oddworlds' next game isnt going to be Munch's Exoddus then what the next installments purpose to the Quintology? Thanx for the chat. Catch some tea some time else. - Daniel

Alf: You are correct. It is a creature that you have not seen yet. And the purpose of the next installment in the Quintology is the same as the others. The whole thing isn't about Munch, it never was! Abe would be really hurt if he heard you say that!

Oddsville 05-29-2003 04:21 PM

Thankye very much Xav, I forgot about looking in the Dear Alf archives.:fuzwink:

MojoMan220 05-30-2003 01:39 AM

All Alf says is that we've never seen it before, he never states that its not been announced. We have never seen a Searex, so there is a 50/50 chance...

paramiteabe 05-30-2003 03:42 AM

Yea true MojoMan but Alf also said that the Sea Rex is huge and the size of the creature hasn't been determined yet because nobody has ever gotten close enough to measure it. Or never caught one and who would? I think a Sea Rex is this really huge coiled up water snake like creature. The thing in Munch just doesn't fit the Sea Rex to me. For what Alf said reminded me of a water snake that is coiled up and enormous.

This all came from one of my questions I asked at Dear Alf regarding to Sea Rex. And here it is.

Q: Hey Alf how is it going in the world of odd? And how is your tea coming? My name is Dave and I am a huge Oddworld fan I pretty much love Oddworld so much I am a member of the Oddworld forums. Ok enough with the pointless talking. I have these two iching questions and I need your answer. How big is a Sea Rex? And will we see them in future games?

Alf: Well things would be better if people made sense, but I don't want to ask too much of the human race. ANYWAY, Here's some soothing ointment for your itch: it is very difficult to determine the size of a sea rex because they are constantly undulating through the water, and are never lain out strait next to another critter where you could make some kind of a comparison. I just know they're big, cause no one wants to catch 'em ... either that or they just taste bad! They're probably the largest animal I know of on Oddworld, though!

Seargentbig 05-30-2003 08:40 AM

I have never seen the bone that you speak of, but I think it is from the same animal that those huge ribs at the top of the necrum burial gounds, in Abe's Exodus, are from.

I guess it probably isn't a Searex, I never really thought it was. OWI probably just put those skeletons in there to show that scrabs and paramites are dangerous creatures.

Xavier 05-30-2003 02:27 PM

so: it isn't a SeaRex...
what is wrong about the fact it is a creature we didn't saw yet?

Sekto Springs 05-30-2003 07:41 PM

what i know about this creature from studies, and gossip:

1. it is not a searex
2. it unlikely it's a gaurdian due to looks
3. it was probly not from the sea

Sekto Springs 05-31-2003 11:35 AM

hey xav, its probly a carivour cause it has sharp pointed teeth if you look up close, and it has no eyes or nostrils, that i can see anyway, i think we can only see the bottom of it's head cause its on its back, and xav, your right they do have lims, theyre just sorta not there, and finally i dont think it's from the sea, but it might be who knows....

ps: the place ta get a good look at this thing is probly in the scrabrun once all the scrabs have been herded into their pens

another skeleton

don't forget there is another skeleton just like that on the Micro Brewery level. I don't think it's a specific speice though, think it's just scenery that a 3d modelist thought up when it was needed.
