An observation about the Mudokon eggs in MO...
They look big enough so that when the muds hatch...they are at (or close to) full size already. I guess that means there is no such thing as a 'baby' mud...
|
Yea I notice that too they do look big enough for a full size Mudokin to be in it. Cool. How odd! There must be no such thing as babys or childrin on Oddworld. ;)
|
Then what about the Larvae of a Mettle or Mug?
That is the 'baby' form of them ![]() |
Now that you mention it I could be wrong Gabbits do have babys so maybe it is for some oddworld spicies and not all.
|
We have seen Gabbit Tadpoles here...
http://www.oddworld.com/universe/nat...pop_middle.jpg If you look at the things around Munch they are actually Gabbit Tadpoles... their heads resemble that of a Gabbit. I have a poster of this image, and they can be seen very clearly on that (they are difficult to see on this image). Also the fact that Gabbiar eggs are actually only in a small can, would indicate that Gabbits do actually "grow up". Mudokons however do seem to be a different story. There has not been any evidence of any child Mudokons in the past... that's not to say it is a possibility. Abe Babe... |
What???
how big are the Mud egs? A complete mud in a small eg? Impossible! http://www.xbox.com/cms/images/games...dysee-0047.jpg But OK they are big |
Let me get this straight. Each of those crate things holds four eggs, right? Each of the crates is roughly half the size [mass-wise] as Munch. so Munch is eight times as big as Abe? How does that work? Even if each crate only held one egg, that would make Mudokons less than half Munch's size...

Were we supose to see that scene with the gabbit tadpoles in the playstation 2 version?

I don't think so... It was probably in the cuted scenes, we go to see it in ME, maybe
|
I think those "tadpoles" are just concept wallpaper stuff...
|
actually the 'hatchling' would be curled up, so the egg doesn't have to be the same size of the 'adult' for the 'baby' to hatch out at full size. Thats why a baby alligator can fit in an egg only half its size.
|
Speaking of proportions how come the vyker in that one screenshot is so big?

Munch looks very small in that pic... i remembert that part but i dont think the vykker was that big

I believe munch is only 14 months old so even if they start off small they get big fast.
that would be neat if munch got a little bigger in the next game (and a better swimmer). |
Yes Rett...but there is one other thing you have to remember. In that screenshot Xaiver posted the eggs are a bit in the background. So they would look smaller because they are in the distance.
Looking at a pic of Abe holding an egg crate in the guide book I have...the eggs look about half Abe's height. So the baby muds would hatch a little smaller...but not much. If you want I can see if I can scan that pic. |
yeah... Scan that pic... I realy want to see!
I want to chek if there are small mud of no? On the paket you can see a baby mud head, so there are maybe small muds |
here you go:

wow, they are gigantic!
I think 3/4 of a mud in a eg... |
I always pictured the young Mudokons, Sligs and Glukkons as being more like baby chicks than young songbirds as the huge queens really can't look after helpless babies........Being able to run around, help themselves to food, run from danger and only need supervision to keep them out of trouble..At some point, I'd think they'd need to be toilet trained...And schooled in whatever propaganda appropiate for their species.....Maybe they use teaching machines similar to the shrinks?
I imagined baby muds being born approximately the size and developmental stage of a three or four year old human. Maybe needing a few months in a grow out facility until they can be sent out to start work in factories... The concept art of Maggie- she looks big enough to drop the Glukkons nearly fully grown...I sort of hoped the Gluks would be cute at some stage in their life.... I imagined the young Gluks would have some use of those hind legs in order to scamper out of the way when caretakers come in to clean up... Kind of like 'training wheels' until they learn to walk on their hands... |

Interesting thoughts, Niteowl.
I never thought of the queens as looking after their young; I assumed the babies would be looked after by ordinary members of their own species. Although on one of the Dear Alf archives, Alf talks of his 'foster Slig'. Maybe Muds destined for industry are all brought up by Sligs and are thus indoctrinated? I see what you mean about Maggie; though. Although the only images we've seen of her are concept ones; maybe if and when we finally see her in a game, she'll be very different. We also don't know of the existence of any other Glukk queens, so if she's the sole mother of the species, she'd have to have an incredibly high birth rate, and so the eggs might have to be quite small. What do you mean 'cute at some stage in their life'? They are cute! Especially the Brewmaster... |
cool paramite, that's not a snoozer, it's an armored vykker.

well, i guess i was bound to double post sooner or later..sorry!
