Sligs and Paramites: Is There a Connection?
I was looking at some pics a few minutes ago and I realized something. Sligs and paramites are very similar! Think about it! Could they have once been closely related? If you took off a slig's mask and pants, you could have a paramite relative with an aposable thunb and no hind legs. Could the Glukkons have tampered with with paramites to make the perfect soldier? :confused:Hey! It could happen! I guess we will all know a bit more about this when more info on the slig queen is available.
What do you think? |
I don't think so. The only real similarity is the feeding tentacles, and even those are quite different. I think that is probably as a result of parallel evolution, since Paramites appear to be arthropods of some sort, whereas Sligs are vertebrates [as we have seen pistures of their skeletons]. Besides, we are fairly certain that Sligs are fairly closely related to Glukkons.
As for the Genetic Engineering thing, I think I can confidently say that that isn't true, since we already know that Sligs [whatever their natural habitat] were Sligs before they were enslaved by the Glukkons. Besides, they're hardly the "perfect soldiers"... :D |
I think that paramites are more related to scrabs than to sligs, based on their body features. Except for the green color, I can't see any other feature that would make paramites and sligs close related.
In a broader sense, of course all the Oddworld organisms are related to each other, in the same way we humans are related to other animals, the plants, and microorganisms. |
But Paramites are yellow-brown, so how would the colour green connect them?

Hey, Rettick, I didn't see your post when I replied to this topic :). I agree with you totaly. I think Paramites are more related to scrabs because they have that arthropod look, like you said.
Yellow-brown? Paramites always looked greenish to me. What I meant was: apart from the fact that paramites and sligs have simmilar skin colors (which is NOT an evidence of genetic proximity, ever) I cannot see any feature that connects them in a closer genetic relation. |
Ah, sorry about that, I suppose that must have sounded a bit confrontational. Yeah, I know how you mean, thanks.

Paramites and Sligs are very simalar, but I dont think that their will be any kind of relations like that in the game.
