Problems getting INTO Abe's Exoddus!!!

Hi. I just bought Abe's Exoddus for PC.

When I install it, and the Digital Dialect screen comes up (Beginning Credits) the game CRASHES and reverts to the desktop. Then to add insult to injury, the screen shuts off, giving me this "System is busy" crap.

What did I do? I JUST GOT THIS GAME! I"VE WAITED 14 DAYS JUST TO GET IT DELIVERED!!!

I need help!

:fuzmad: :fuzmad: :fuzmad:

Xavier 04-17-2003 06:53 PM

try to re-instal it
try to use the slowest speed option

Dipstikk 04-17-2003 06:58 PM

How do I get to that again?

Xavier 04-17-2003 07:11 PM

well go in "My programs" and stuff... I dunno where you installed it

Dipstikk 04-17-2003 10:10 PM

Didn't work, Im running Disk Defrag now. Damn, I payed $19.95 for a two-disk set of difective merchandice.

BTW, To everyone, don't dial the so-called "help line" for GT interactive. I think it has something naughty on it. The Message I got was: (sensual lady voice) "Ooh, we've been waiting 18 years for your call, and we're..." CLICK! (Me hanging up the phone and kvetching about damn prostatutes.)

Are you using the right disk?
There is an install disk and a play disk. If you mess them up that might be why it crashes.

Dipstikk 05-22-2003 09:34 AM

Yea, it's the right disk.

I can use it at school and it works just fne there.

They say I can bring it to summer school.

Sekto Springs 05-22-2003 06:02 PM

so just play it there its almost summer anyway....but i kno how it is when your at home mindin your business when an urge to play oddworld comes over you......unless you can fight this hunger, you better fix it up:fuzsad:

No no, don't worry about defective game discs. I've seen this problem on many Direct-X based games. Can you please describe your PC setup? What version of Windows are you operating with (Windows 95, 98, NT, ME, 2000, XP?) And also if possible, CPU type, speed, RAM, and video card type. This information will drastically increase my ability to assist you.

Sekto Springs 05-24-2003 04:07 PM

also, AE is kind of an old game.....it may not work properly if you have a newer system..but it should be compatible with xp, 98, 95, and 2000....hey! i tried!:fuzsad:

I did my best.
(Welcome back, Pilot.)

-Windows 98

PC setup: please describe this to me in idiot terms so I know what it is. I only know a computer so well. Me stupid.

-Driver: i81xdw9x.drv
-Version 4.13.0001.3196 (ENGLISH)

Video Card: I far I'll screw my computer up if I open my CPU.

Speed, CPU type, RAM: Where do I find these?

Majic 05-26-2003 08:23 PM

The type of video car, RAM, speed, etc... are the advertised capabilities of your computer. You know that stuff whenever you buy it, but I'm not quite sure how to help you find out otherwise.

I think it's somewhere in the control panel, or else on start-up when the screen is still black and white text. Taskmanager might help.

Exodos

:fuzmad: :fuzmad: :fuzmad: Did you even check the box to see if It works the computer I check the box for every gam on my computer.

Gryph the Slig 06-09-2003 09:55 PM

Um... sometimes a computer is too fast to run a game, Abe16. I've come across this annoying problem in the past with several other titles. So in these cases, you can't tell if it'll work by looking at the box. :fuzwink:

Abe16 06-09-2003 10:54 PM

:fuzzle: Oh well sorry I got mad with my other post.

Adder 06-14-2003 01:45 PM

Gryph, I know what you mean by too good, but it's only 98.

AE works fine on my XP, and I think it worked on my (very) old 2000pro, which was upgraded from 95. Um... if it's not too late, I'd go for a replacement on grounds of faulty disk.
