I have a question about Quicktime and the .mov extensions...
How do you change the file extensions from .mov to .mpeg???
Cuz I have the UYI clip, but my computer is kinda slow, so the whole movie is all crappy... But when I play files within KaZaA, all runs perfect... The point is that my computer refuses to show UYI in KaZaA, due to the .mov extension. When I order it to play, it starts QT, and I wanna change that... Is there by any chance a way to change it at all, and if it can be changed, could you tell me how??? |
I didn't think changing the extension would work ... but it does. So try the following ... :)
- Go to Windows Explorer or My Computer or something like that - Right click the file and choose Rename - Change the extension from .mov to .mpeg and press Enter If you are asked if you want to change it or not, then just say Yes. That should work. Abe Babe... |

I have not tried it,but.......
Step 1, mov to avi.

so, that doesn't work.. And atusi, I'll maybe try that later, when I have the time... anywayz, thanks for the help. : D |
You probably have that horrible default Windows setting that hides known filename extensions turned on. I really hate that setting, as it prevents you from not only renaming files correctly, but also from actually viewing the file type if you have a program that gives lots of file types the same icon (i.e. Media Player).
Try this ... - Go to Windows Explorer (or my computer or whatever) - Click the Tools menu - Click Folder Options... - Click the View tab - Untick Hide Extensions for Known File Types - Click OK Now try renaming your file. Abe Babe... |
Thx! Now it is MPEG... the only thing is, I still can't play it via kazaa, and still need quicktime to open it.. Kazaa makes use of Windows Media player right?
But when I play it in WMP, it just sayz it can't find the right decompressor.. Any tips on that? |
Have you heard of DivX?
Try downloading the latest version of any DivX player off Kazaa with all the decompressors (don't worry, the decompressors usually come with the download). 99% of the time you'll get the right decompressor. DivX players play almost anything. Lol and not to worry about the slow computer thing. My second computer is a (wait for it..) Pentium I 166MHz:eek: with only 24Mb of RAM. It still runs all movies fine. So if the ".MPEG" extension doesn't work, try the original file you d/l. Hope that helps you. |
