Suprising Games
whats was the game that u thought would be ok or good and u played it, and it rocked???
|
Let's see, Oddworld Abe's Exoddus, Halo, Blood Omen 2, and there are more, just cant remember. They all made me think, 'Ah, what the heck' and i played them and became addicted.
|
I once (5 years ago) had this demo disc form a magazine and on that disc was a game called 'StarCrafT'. I played the demo ,like, 15 times and then I went to the store to buy the full version... At first when I saw the Screens I thought it was a mediocre game, but now I know better... SC RULEZZZ!!!
|
Halo, I suppose. I just bought it because everyone else was... I didn't really expect much of it. But of course, it turned out to be pretty good.
Didn't think much of Morrowind at first, either... but then it turned into friggin' crack. |
i first wasnt gonna get Xbox because i thought ps2 was the best. i got Halo and i was amazed........ i couldntstop playin.. now i cant stop winning ;)
|
That would be JSRF, I guess. I only bought it because Tom suggested it, but I got addicted to it for about a month. I'm off it now, though. I can't remember anything else before that, although the games that captivated me so much when I was younger - Oddworld and Crash Bandicoot - don't really fit the description, because I was very new to video games then, and was more-or-less exploring for the first time.

JSRF has some similarities and some differences to JGR.
For example, JGR was more of a linear game, and while JSRF is pretty linear, JGR didn't have a free-roaming city. Also, to do graffiti in JGR, you had to bust out directional combos. Frustrating, yet more interesting than pressing a button. Really, it just come down to preference. JSRF was bigger, but JGR had more replay value. |
cool, ty, nice to know ;)
|
Morrowind, i bought that game not really knowing what it was. I only knew it was a RPG. Now i spend all night on it.
JSRF looks good, but i still dont have it. I have been spending all my spooce :fuzcool: on other Xbox games. |
I remember good ol' Tomba. I thoguht it was retarded. It actually was. But the demo was strangely addictive. Honestly. I still regret never buying it.

a game that i thought was gonna suck was Diablo 2, my friend played it and sayed it was godly but i finally tried it and is one of the best games ive ever played

Tombi and Tomba are exactly the same game. It depends where you live. For some reason the UK and the US get different names. *shrugs* Don't ask me, all I know is that that demo was way too short. I'm glad I didn't get the game, it couldn't stand being addicted to that all day long.
But then I didn't really have any preconceptions about Tombi, so I wouldn't add it to the list. If we're merely talking about getting addicted, then I'd have rambled on about how my entire extanded family got hooked on Bust-a-Move 2, lol. |
Runs out from under a Rock
Pokemon Red on Game Boy Hides under the rock again |
This is gonna sound REALLY cheap, but actually, Kingdom Hearts.
Ahem, I think I left the oven on. *runs out door, drives away.* |
I reckon War Craft 3 Frozen Throne would be pretty mad. Since War Craft 3 Reign of Chaos was pretty good. Actually, all games made by blizzard are great. Diable... Star craft.... World of Warcraft...

A surprising game for me was JSRF. My brother got it, and I didn't think it would be that good as I'm not usually into those kinds of games, but I found it was fun. It has aspects of RPG and exploration in it. It was cool to make my own Oddworld and FF graffiti and then spray it everywhere! Abe Babe... |
Giants Citizen Kabuto...man...that game...i played the demo thinking "ok this is gona suck" but i played it until i lost contact with reality..then i got it and i laughed until my lungs didn't have air in them... That game is the best!!
|
I'm saving this topic from it's inevitable demise, because i didn't want to make another thread for the game 'Second Sight', which, thus far, is rawwwking my sockings as we speak (even though i've already played it through once).
T'as to be said, also, that the character models kick the rectum worm out of quite a few games i've played. |
I used to mostly play Xbox games when I was bored, but then I played StarCraft online after a friend introduced me to it, and I saw an advert for a game called World of Warcraft, which is made by the same people. I got World of Warcraft last week and started playing expecting it to be OK but just as good as Starcraft, and that's when I got hooked.
It's SO much fun. |
Metal Arm's: glitch in the system .
|
Metal Arms is an overwhelming crap game. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't just run and gun this Robot. Oh, and then shoot that one. Oh, and this one here. Oh yeh, and then there's that Robot you have to shoot.
Seems to me the people who created the game knew full well it would be a crap repetative piece of trash, but went "Oh, but people won't mind, look, you can blow the enemies arms/legs/heads off!! Yeh, they'll soon forget about the repetativeness when they discover that!! Whoo-hoo!!" |
Well I thought it was good, Krunk was hilarious.
|
Dat Krunk, man, he wuz duh pimp sheeyaaat! Yeah he was pretty hilarious.
Hmm. I expect video games to rock my socks. I only buy video games that look fully capable of rocking my socks. If a game looks lacking, I don't buy it. It's as simple as that. What is Morrowind like? Is it fully capable of rocking my socks? |
