Abe the shrunken head?
I've noticed something wierd. It looks like Abe's head resembles one of thoes shrunken-head things that you buy on island vacations. The coconut-shaped head, the stitched-up lips, I mean how can you NOT see it?
Do any of you see it? I don't want to look stupid. |
I see it, but you still look stupid.:D :D

I bet thats where Lorne got the idea from. Usually there is a lot of research that goes into the process of makeing a character before drawing it. I am sure the artists probabally found similar pictures of shrunken heads and then interpreted that into the design for Abe. You will see a lot of things that resembel earth things. Simply because of research materal. Thats where you get the resemblence from.

I hadn't noticed that before, so well spotted! Mudokon heads also look like snapdragon flowers...I think. It was a while ago. I'll search the Forums in a minute to find the right thread.
EDIT: Good old Oddworldian! I couldn't find it on the Forums, though. Wow, 10 months since Oddworldian's last update. *reminisces about the good old days* |
are you talking about those things?
http://www.forteantimes.com/gallery/seedface.shtml then it realy old news :fuzwink: |
Yes, that's what I said. It was on-topic, though, so I brought it up as a reminder, and for newbies.

I could tell that the inspiration for a lot of the Mudokon Culture was derived from tribal / islander culture.
Take Bigface, for example. (Please, take him. Bada-ping!) His mask looks like one of thoes full-body masks from thoes cartoons involving Cannabolistic tribes. (Not to say Bigface is a Cannibol, but his mask resembles one.) And then in MO, some Natives have bones in their hair like a pin. Do you see where I'm going with this? |
:
the mudokons are the one who are exploited, and they represent some indian and african tribes that are on earth so it's logic they have some similitudes |
Lorne said the Scrubs were based on African Diamond miners...

well... have a look here for more inspiration:
