The Slig Headpiece
 
Did you notice how the slig headpiece changed from the 2D version (just a red line to see through) to the 3D version (two eye shaped red lenses). Whats up with that?

Like I've once said before, the Slig Headpiece was changed because OWI thought it would give Sligs better facial expressions that way.

It has nothing to do with changes in the actual Oddworldian Industry, Lorne or Sherry said it themselves, (I'm pretty sure it was Lorne, but I'm not 100% sure).

The new mask does make the sligs look better. When I looked through the MO manual, and looked at the slig, I said to myself, hey, did the slig always look like that? It looks better. (I hadn't played AO in a while..)

Well, it doesn't really give them more facial expression but it makes them look better. I've also noticed that the new sligs have two tubes linking the mask to the pants... in AO, there was only one.

I like the new look but I also like the old look as well. They should use both ideas. Anyway I thought the look in AO was rather more threatening than the new version. I saw some concept art of the early Munch that had a slig tower and the sligs were shooting a Mudokin probabally Abe and they looked like the sligs from AO and AE with the single eye part. It was a cool picture. here is the picture. If anyone could make this bigger then you will notice the sligs look like the sligs that were in AO.

there are lots of ConceptArt with those sligs... Alf awnser for the mask changes is the the sligs crossed eyes with the old model

I prefer the newer head piece.
having two 'eye holes' gives more scope for additions like telescopics, or gun sights etc.

Progress happens, even on oddworld I guess!

The in game reason, as Xavier pointed out, was because the old slig visors made the wearers cross eyed so the new ones were developed.

But the real life reason was the one already stated. More emotion.

BTW, you should use the Q and A thread for this sort of question.

you can still use the old model... I'm sure some poor sligs still use them :D
