Mudokin Drones?
 

Like working class Mudokins are there drones in the Mudokin race? like bees have workers and then they have drones and a queen.

That would be cool a drone Mudokin and the drones could be like the ones to impregnate the queen. In this case Sam. The drone Mudokins are put into these small rusty industrial cells and when it comes time for Sam to become pregnant and lay Mudokin eggs the Shrienks open the cells with the Drone Mudokins inside and they let them go and impregnate her. When thats finnished they are sent back into their old rusty cells.

I guess the question is do you think there are more classes of Mudokins other than working class and a queen? And could this concept apply to other races as well?

I think it is very possible that there could be other classes of Muds and these drones that you speak of are intreuaging (argh! damn keyboard)

So maybe someone could ask Alf about this?

This is a very good idea for an on-going question: 'Do Mudokons have other classes?'

It would be a perfectly plausible reason to why Sam can't stop giving birth. Although it does interfeer with the theory of Sam being Bisexual, but until we get our facts straight from the source anything is possible.

I agree oddworld would be so much cooler if there was drones.
but there is always some kind of glich in a good idea like that.

Well, since it's oddworld I won't say anything IS like what I said. But if it is anything like Earth, then the best theory for Mudokon reproduction would be the one that is the most practical and/or easy and/or one that would ensure their survival i.e a method of reproduction that would ensure a large variety in the gene pool.

Well there are a couple of working theories:

The drone idea based on bees, the hermaphrodite idea about Sam being self-impregnating and the idea that Sam is able to lay fertile eggs without sex(like this lizard or in certain conditions, aphids).

The idea of drones is plausible. If they were like bees or ants etc. they would die after they had "it" and the sperm would be enough to last Sam until a certain point near her death when she would stop laying eggs. There would be a greater variation in the gene pool.

Self-fertilisation which sometimes occurs in plants would be very easy. But if the Mudokons are to survive they would have problems with the very small variety in the gene pool.

Asexual reproduction would also be simple and practical but it would have the same problems with self-fertilisation.

What about the theory of Mudokons descending from birds. They require males to impregnate them before they can lay eggs, so Im thinking it may be the same deal for Sam. Perhaps something like an alpha male...

The bird theory broken down is just sexual reproduction.

Still bares some relevancy to the topic.
