Munches Oddysee --==DISSAPOINTING?==--

Before I start, I would like to say that I love the Oddworld games including Munch but a few things about MO have been bothering me.

GAMESPEAK:
What happened with gamespeak? Abe and munch are fine but what happened to sligs? You werent able to interact with the others (without pissing them off at least). You werent able to call your precious Sloggies!! All you could do was insult, which is funny, but could sligs not have had proper gamespeak options? Same with Big Bros, Paramites etc.

LULU FUND ORDEAL:
Grrrrrr! Making Lulu rich was like what? 70% of the GAME?? It was fun at first but toward the end it was same old same old... A bit more thought would have been in order.

GLITCHES:
I found a horrible amount of glitches in the game where Abe and Munch could move on to the next section (by cutting across certain areas) where they shouldnt be able to. Did any of you have this happen?

Give me your thoughts. Remember, I dont hate this game... In fact I LOOOOOVE it! But these few things annoyed me when I finished the game.

Yeah, it was a bit annoying sometimes.
Don't you hate it how Sligs keep getting stuck in the wall? It's especially annoying when your trying to kill them with the zapper on a Snoozer, and they have been pushed so far into the wall it can't reach them anymore.

I'm not going to go into detail, because that would go on forever.

The simple answer is, that OWI rushed to get MO released on the Xbox Launch, in which meant that things would be left out.

Alcar...

Heh, yeah the zapping glitch was annoying... I was trying to kill everything I could and it took so long! (in snoozer labs). And yes you can cut across some areas, like in Magog Motors (not sure whether that was intentional or not) and the Loading Dock (you can get into that middle area with the eggs by jumping on the door).

Not to what Alcar said, yeah they were probably in a rush. Certain things DID get left out... I was watching cyberzone (this was halfway through 2001 or somewhere around there) and they were talking about MO. I saw these parts of the game that we never get to see in the final product. Well, basically, all I saw was a group of muds trekking through the desert and Abe lifting a slig up and throwing him out a stain glass window. He splats in front of 2 sligs... they laugh. I'm not lying about this.

Well, I said it before, OWI might have got carried away with graphic etc. that they forgot about some other aspects of the game. I was a bit dissappointed with the main screen... in AO, Abe said "hello" when he appeared. And when you select things, he says stuff like "ok" and "follow me". And when you quit gamespeak(the testing part where you get to know the buttons etc) Abe says "goodbye". I new I would love AO as soon as the main screen loaded.

Yea

Yeah, their was a rush (I remember that) but the thing that sets their games apart from others (despite the oddness) is GAMESPEAK!!! I was pretty peeved that this wasnt developed as well as the last one (AE).

paramiteabe 01-16-2003 12:33 AM

Don't worry anymore about this. OW4 will rekindal the fire that was so strong in AO and AE. What we dident see in MO will come in OW4 and future games. I know we are all hopeing for the best. If OWI is not telling us any information then OW4 has to be one incredable game. That is my conclusion. I mean think about it why would OWI not want to say anything and then be real excited on the work they been doing? That says it all this next game is going to be one hell of an Oddworld game. Yes it was a shame that all that stuff was taken out of MO but that is of the past now and the future is what I look to.

FireFrog 01-16-2003 01:45 AM

hmm...

Amen paramiteabe... amen.

lindsey 01-19-2003 06:28 PM

lots and lots of glitches thars a new one all the time

Canned Gabbiar 01-21-2003 10:58 AM

Well Lindsey, I'm glad to see that there has been a slight improvement in your spelling, though punctuation is still lacking.

There aren't new glitches all the time, but there are new bugs all the time. I'm surprised that there were so many people who had problems like "the walkways were invisible" or "the mudokons don't pull the levers when I tell them to". But yes, like PA, I do think that OWI will make the next game as good as possible.

Jacob 01-21-2003 01:20 PM

I never experienced any such Glitches or Bugs...must be Merkin thing...for the 3rd time!!

Facsimile 01-22-2003 06:46 AM

I'm not a Merkin and I had them. Not as many as others though, I had the lever one. I wont count the Sligs in walls ones because I think that would happen to all.
