A place of my own
I'm trying to start my own website, I already have it built.
But, I'm cheap. Any ideas what FREE server to use? |
In my opinion, geocities is the best..as far as free servers go, anyway. They allow for the most manual manipulation and HTML documents and coding.
|
No, geogetics is no good. Members who arn't from there can't go to those sites....
Go to brinkster It's very easy and free. And it supports 30 MB to use. Remember, the main HTML file need's to be named index.html or it wont be displayed. |
Or index.asp. Its one of the best ASP providing servers, however I prefer PHP better *hugs PHP logo*
May I ask what this site will be about? Alcar... |
I agree with Dark Xinos, use brinkster.
|
It depends what services you need. I used to use f2s - it was english, it supported php, gave you a cgi-bin, perl, all kinds of nicities. no ads. they removed that service.
But i like freeservers.com and i never used brinkster... |
I use freeservers.com most of the time. It's the closest you can get to a free domain name.
|
when you say it's the CLOSEST it sound like it's not free;) (is it i got a site to not on the web)
|
Exactly, it's not a free domain name. It's a free subdomain name, which is an entirely different thing.

Brinkster
Okay, if anyone can find this again, I still need help.
Basicly, I've now got a reasonable good website on brinkster (link in my signature will take you there) However, brinkster's low bandwidth is creating a problem, and my site is too big to edit out the geocities adverts. Any one got any more ideas??? |
