Munch review.........

Deserves better, but for non-die hards, it's ok of a score. Bottomline,,,, if you liked the first two, you will love this one. http://www.gamerspulse.com/reviews_2...oddworld.shtml

Well, it isnt a terrible review. I've seen thrashings that were far more harsh. It's nice that both negative and positive parts of the game were discussed.

It's no surprise to me. Every video game site and magazine have been giving it average reviews. It's not a bad nor great game, but it's in the middle.

It also depends. I mean, MO and other Oddworld games are the "love em or hate em" type of games. Some people like them, some people don't.

Mistakes:
"Like in his previous adventures, Abe has returned to aid the sole living Gabbit through multiple quests against the Glukkons." - I missed Munch in AO/AE, darn
"Unlike preceding titles in the Oddworld franchise... Abe will also have to use his Mudokon allies to help him open doors to proceed to new game sections." - I can't use Muds to open doors in AO/AE...hmm
"Gameplay
For those familiar with the title from previous systems, this title is basically the same game with a new character." - I missed the 3D gameplay from the other games, oh dear
"This time around Abe will team up with Munch, the last surviving Gabbit on Oddworld, to seek out and find the last remaining can of Gabbit eggs, and a can of Mudokon eggs." - Mud eggs, in cans?
"For those players familiar with the game from previous consoles, Oddworld uses the same control system as before, offering quick button presses for action including jumping, speaking, giving orders and even creating bodily noises." - No, it doesn't
"After being caught by the Glukkons and taken to Vykkers Labs, the Glukkons decide to implant Munch with a sonar headpiece to be used to help find other races that may prove worthy to enter the marketplace." - replace 'Glukkons' with 'Vykkers' and stop reading after 'headpiece'
"collecting Spooce balls" - Are thet like hair-balls?
"Abe and his newfound friend Munch" - earlier he said they'd worked togethter before

Basically, the reviewer never played the previous games and he just wanted to sound like he knew what he was talking about.

[Hey, you nicked everything I said on MSN! j/k]

I think Tom's being quite harsh on this guy. He may not be a true oddfan, but he's given this a fair review as a game, not having his judgement clouded by past games. It's not nearly as bad as the one that talked about "Evil Slig Scientists"...

Yeah, no one is perfect, GS.

gaming_chic_4_life 12-14-2001 04:55 AM

Well this is my first of any of the Oddworld games. I played and beat MO in 2days. With good Quarma i might add(from what i read here in the spoilers perfect aint no big deal.), and I am completely hooked. It is like a drug. I went and bought AO and AE today and from what i have seen i am loving them as well. Cant wait till ME comes out. I am paitently waiting till it arrives. My review would be two big thumbs up.

gaming_chic_4_life 12-15-2001 03:00 AM

No i only played MO for 5 hours a day. with my lil bro bitchin bout it was boring and too hard for him. but i love it and AO/AE i got too.

Robbo 12-15-2001 07:41 PM

Why all the long faces? 82%/8 out of 10, is a good score. Don't forget this was an unbiased rating, so fans of the seris (looks around) will love this and new-comers will discover a great game. Every game will have one weak spot (in this case its life span, but this is more of a niggle) and beside this you have a fantastic game. :D

Wise Abe 12-16-2001 12:33 AM

I thought MO was pretty long and challenging, IMO.
