Found some info on the next game!
 

I was reading through the latest EGM magazine today when I stumbbled across something that said "Deatils on the Next Oddworld". In a flurry I began reading and was...well surprised with what I read... Here's exactly what it says...

"Brace yourself, because it's a little... well, weird. Apparently, it involves a half-monkey, half-horse, centaurish main character who's got a psychic connection to (get redy for it...) his boat. Yes, I said boat. Your job is to transport some "things" down a river in said boat. The monkey-horse man and his talking thinking sentient boat have a gameplay relationship....."

The article also said that it takes place (my guess is immediatly) after MO...

Are you sure? That doesnt sound too much like Oddworld to me... That sounds like some stupid Nintendo thing. Riding in boats with a "monkey-horse man" sounds really corny.. I hope they dont do that!!!

Well the character sounds OW related. But the whole 'talking to a boat' is a tad...weird, retarded and wrong. Because we know whats going to happen dont we...there's going to be a massive epidemic of people like MMA (Jacobsucks) befriending boats and coming on here saying stuff like;

"I dont need friends...i have woody...he's a boat. We talk."

Well the magazine said that it was definatley something from Oddworld, mabye we don't know the full story yet and thats why it sounds so.....strange, none the less its tis from a magazine and we all know magzines never lie! *sarcasim*

(seriously though, it says that one of thier wrighters got the info and that its legit?)

Edit2- Damn you EGM (the magazine) I just realized that this is one of thier many "early" April fool jokes that they have scattered all throughout this magazine! *sigh* Im really sorry about that guys...*sulks off*

The magazine could have come up with a better idea than that though, no true Oddworld fan would believe it. And I look down on those that did. Cos I didn't. Of course not. Not for a second.

I read it too, so guys dont go off worrying about the next game. There were many clues that it was a joke. Its not real and its not oddworld look for the clues in the article.

If you guys did take that serious you should have known better. They would have told us on the site before EGM. I guess it was an attempt on some humor, that not everyone understood.

damn....and just when I thought oddworld was going to start taking my letters containing game suggestions seriously..

As soon as I read the word monkey and horse I knew that was just a complete fake. Lets face it OWI is not telling us anything. The only thing that we will see of this game is when its comercial comes on air for the first time and that will be when it is in stores.

I'm already preparing an April Fools joke. And Oddsville, when was the issue of that magazine published? It must have been all the way back in April, or was it an early April fools joke?

Personally I think there might be something to that. Sure they oversimplified to make it sound unrealistic but what if that basically is what the next game would be about. The new character (whom all the staff at OWI seem to like) could be this weird looking thing best described as a monkey-horse centaur and maybe his boat is actually a large aquatic creature that just looks somewhat like a boat and has space for passengers and cargo.

Then again... it was probably just a joke.

Well aside from everyone making me feel like an idiot, I just wanna say sorry for not taking the time to look for the clues, I was just in such a hurry to read it when I saw the tittle that I didn't really think.:fuzsad: Oh and Alcar the issue I got was the one for this March (there quick ones) and they tend to do alot of early April fools jokes before it is actually April....:fuzsmile:

One other thing that lead me to belive that it was true is that Munch's Oddysee stopped right at a river and the supposed story is suposed to take place on a river. What I thought was that the monkey guy had to transport the baby Gabbits up river (so they don't get capptured by the Industrialists) to their spawning grounds with Abe and Munch (Alf said the next game had to do with the baby Gabbits.)? But once again I am really, really sorry..:fuzsad:

please stop sarcasm, the info can be real but (like TheKhanzumer pointed out) oversimplified.
and the ideas of Oddsville sounds pretty logical too

But if it isn't, please don't make such big deal about, Oddsville found some info and share it to us. Even if it isn't right don't blame him. I would have done exactly the same thing (post imediatly the info on the forum without even brothering if it's right)

Im actually not blaming Oddsville, he and Khanz have some good ways of interpretting the information. But I think, what I was actually blaming was how fast people responded in here going oh that sucks, sounds retarded, etc. I felt that us being Oddworld fans here, would more or less disregard it as a joke, or interpret it in a different way. Yeah it was good to spook everyone out a bit, but we all should have figured out it wasnt most likely what the game was completely about. And to trust facts rather than speculation. So no I dont blame Oddsville. I at first when I read the article was like that sounds really dumb, but I looked closer, it also said major speculation too. There is no official confirmation on it so I dont even really take in high regard what EGM said. Its my fav game magazine, but in this case I just think of it as a joke until proven otherwise.

So dont worry about it Oddsville.:fuzsmile:

Imagine if the next game really is something like that, I mean I knew it was a joke but it could be something that we will all say, "That sounds so incredibly stupid, how could OWI do this to us," but it could be a really good game.
I mean when Mario came out they must have been saying, "Oh great, a fat plumber collecting coins" but it turned out pretty popular.

It probabally wont be like that Facsimile. I means its Oddworld we are talking about here.

Hey oddsville, I'm sorry if that sounded a little harsh... But I couldn't help it! It just sounds ridiculous! Hahaha... oh sorry.:fuzgrin:

I'm sorry I probably should have emphasized some words in my post but I did not mean the horse/monkey and boat thing could happen, I mean that the next game could be something that when told about it we don't look directly in the eyes of OWI when we say, "It sounds good."

This is one of the sole reasons I try to stay away from most of these topics. Is for the reasons rumors really bring down my hopes and own ideas of what I think the next game will be about. A prime example on how a joke, or not may really change peoples views on a game. I dont think this topic is stupid, or that it should be closed. It just shows my opinion on how I should stay away from most rumor type topics, or some of the speculation on the next game,(although some ideas are quite good, and thus I still come and look at speculation, not rumor topics). I will probably continue to do that until we have confirmation from Oddworld Inhabitants on what the main premise, of the next game is about, and a basic story concept. That does not come from a magazine, a person, a joke, a rumor, unless it is coming straight from OWI, in an interview, their website, or technically a Magazine if is an interview that states what is in the game. That way I can still have my own opinion, other people can have theirs, and all I have to do is just avoid those specific topics. I can also then make a fair assumtion of if I really am going to enjoy it, and then make a final decision when I buy the game/play it, for myself. That way everyone can have their own opinion, and then discuss their afterthoughts and final thoughts on OW4 here, on OWF.
