Too many forums!
 

There are too many forums these days. I don't mean to make anyone angry, but I think that some forums should be deleted or just merged with another. There is too much clutter and some forums focus on just one topic that is TOO specific leaving only a handful of active participants and it is just getting repetitive. I think there should be a vote on what forums should stay and what forums should go. Of course the General Oddworld and Off-Topic Disussions must stay and a few others, but many can be deleted without making anyone too upset. Please heare me out, come on, twelve forums?!

I here ya there but it seems everything is working fine. I don't know lets here what other people have to say.

I have seen some forums with about 15 forums in it. I don't know what forums would be deleted, and then again I really don't feel we need to delete anything. As far as I know the main forums has been General Discussion, Off-Topic, and Fan Corner. Oddworld Interactive Poll Team is new and so is the Oddlympics. And yes these two are on a temporary close. The team is getting back together and thinking of new ideas. The Spoiler for MO is still here... But like I said, I see no need to delete any forums. Just don't add anymore, and we will be fine.

I dont see why the OIPT cant be like the Oddylimpics...a side forum.

I'd rather not see a hideous page filled with 7 stickies, thank you very much. Plus I don't think there can be two subs for a mian one.

Anyways, I could care less aobut how many forums there are. Picky picky.

You can have as many subforums as you want, they'd probably actually be called sub-subforums :D

But, I have given thought to closing the Spoiler Forum until ME (or whatever game) is released. I'll have to see public opinion, and the opinions of the staff.

I totally agree with oddpod, i've seen loads of forums bigger then this one.

I've seen homeless people begging on the street, doesn't mean i want to see more of them...

Yes, but those forums probably had a larger number of meaningful ones...

So you're saying that some of our subforums are meaningless...
Every subforum here is doing its job, its created for a reason.

Many forums tend to divide sections up for particular games. In particular Final Fantasy forums have a separate forum for each game. That's okay for that game series, as each game is not related and has different characters, but for Oddworld the games are connected, therefore it's not appropriate to do such.

Although many of the larger forums tend to divide up the Off-Topic sections into too many things ... i.e. music, games, movies, etc. Unless you have a lot of active members, this really isn't a good way to do things.

OWF seems to have a good number of forums, but Member Art and Literature is virtually dead now days, as most of the artists moved over to TGA. So I'm not really sure if this forum has too much relevance anymore. Or perhaps it should be moved to a sub-forum of Fan Corner, where it might get noticed more.

Dont make any more forums...it would be tedious and slow the forum page down.

I think you should merge fan corner and member art & literture into one forum.

The reason Member Art & Literature was created was to make the difference between Oddworld related art/literature, and non Oddworld related art/literature.

Im not sure that it would still get enough attention in FC, but if it comes down to it thats fine. Though later on we may need a sub forum for the Fan Corner contests for art and stories, it all depends on what happens. Though I havent seen Alector lately, I need to talk to her about all these contests.
