Pink Floyd: The Wall

Has anyone besides me, ever seen this movie? This is by far one of the greatest films every made and I think more people should know about it. The album was a work of art, but the movie surpassed it by far. Has anyone else seen it, and if you have what did you think of it.

I've wanted to see that film for ages now! I've been told that it's very strange, but very good :)

But you say that it surpasses the album? How can you compare such different things? Or is it the music in the film that is better?

It's my favorite film...
I simply love it!

In the movie, there is only 2-3 lines of dialogue. the rest is filled in by songs from the album, I think there are 3 or 4 songs that arent on the album. If you havent seen it, it's about a rock-star named Pink who slowly and agonizingly descends into a state of madness, self-loathing, and facist-related skitzophrenia, by erecting a mental wall to block himself out from the horrible world which exsists around him. Much of the story is told through metaphors and can be very confusing at times. For a complete analysis of the film, go to this site.....

But I feel that the movie surpassed the album only because it did an extrodinary job of demonstrating a mix of music and mind-stunning visuals. The movie almost makes you feel as if you yourself, have gone completely insane. And the fact that only a few words were spoken by actors while the band really told the story is what truly made the movie great.

Ah I see. I don't think I've ever seen a film quite like that, but for some reason I just know I'll love it. Using my brain to work out metaphors lis something that I really enjoy. Sounds like this film has a strong message.

Have you ever seen "Tommy" bu The Who? I loved that film alot. Although I guess the only similarities with this and The Wall is that a band told the story as Tommy is a rock musical :)

Tommy was also wierd in alot of places. I never did understand why all those beans shot out from the TV :fuzconf:

No, I've never seen "Tommy", but I'm a fan of The Who.

You might like it, it's got songs from The Who's greatest hits album "Who's Better Who's Best", one of them being the fantastic "Pinball Wizard" :)

They also have another film called "Quadrophoenia" (sp?) which I have not yet seen.

*has seen it* Disturbed me a bit... like the flowers... and the judge... erf.

But then, as I like Pink Floyd (got that from my Dad, I think, he's a big fan) I should have expected it. ;)
