Forum regulation?

As a concern member of the OWF it has come to my attention that there are a lot of new members comming in every week. Every time I log in there is alweys somebody new. Which is a great thing. Its alweys nice to see new members but could we be deep into the thousands of new members? How many do we get a year? How many don't even post or use the forums? I know there has been many topics related to this in the past. I am just pointing it out.

Do you think there should be some kind of clean up? Like get rid of the new people who don't even use this site at all. Yea thats sounds pretty harsh but if that person won't post then why have him a member? If you get rid of he or she it won't make a difference he doesn't use the site. So why have him?

I was thinking on like if you join you have a certain amount of time to post threads and if you dident you altimatically get thrown out. It could regulate the population of the Forums. I would like to here your ideas.

I tend to sway on the idea of not having that in place, because as Pilot has said beforehand there is a lot of space on his server and a users profile on the MySQL database takes up a small amount of space.

On the other hand, I like to believe we are a big forum by looking at the amount of members we have on the main page ;)

Another problem is that to do what you suggested, you would have to be made an Admin or Super Mod to delete users.

Yea that makes good sense but what I was concerned about was what if the server runs out of room? I mean do we still have plenty of room left? The thought just came to me because of how many new people we get everyday.

This is a small forum compared to many.

Yeah, just take a look at the Infogrames forums, there are SO many topics, posts members and more!

I think I remember Pilot telling me there was 9 Gigabytes on the server, and I doubt that it's any where near 9 Gigs.

Off the top of my head the whole Oddworld Forums occupies 135 MB. But when I get home I'll check the exact size and get back to you.

I reckon that we shouldn't delete users that doesn't post. What if one they went back to the forum and they really wanted to post and can't get into their account and they were to busy to make another account and so we lost a new member.

Okay i've got the exact amount of space the database for the Oddworld Forums uses.

It is less than what I estimated, it is in fact at this moment 117MB.
