A little hint about Oddworld 4
 

Last week I got the Official Australian Xbox Magazine and on the demo disk there was a video of an interview with Lorne Lanning. Before you all rush out to buy the magazine, let me tell you not to bother - OAXM has no respect for Oddworld or it's fans at all (they once even called munch a fish) and the interview is rather boring.

The only point of interest is when they asked Lorne about the next game. He answered that it would not be anything like we expect - that people would say "I can't believe that OWI came out with a game like that." but then he said that people would say that only OWI could come out with a game like that!

I assume from that that the next game will not be Munch's Exoddus. It may not even be Hand of Odd!

Yea I know what you mean! Doesn't it make you wounder. I am keeping an open mind on this that the next game will be something so original that what ever it is it will amaze us and that any complaint we have for OWI will be mended. That is what my feeling is.

I am glad OWI is not telling anybody what they have cooking up. Remember the less information we have on this next game and future games I might add, the better we are because we will be amazed and surprised when we do see it. You know how we were when MO came out right? We were siked but the unexpected happened and a lot of people were disappointed. OWI doesn't want that to happen again so that is why there is almost nothing out there except for little clues like this one. And these small clues is the only thing I need to be satisfied. That and the release date. The rest I want to discover myself when I play the new game for the first time.

the problem with MO is that I knew everything before playing the game... so it wasn't that surprising anymore :(

Well whatever it is Im sure Oddworld has some excellent and amazing suprises in store for us.:fuzwink:

i always get a surprise in every game cause i never look for info on it so all the abe,munch games i have i got a surprise from em all................

I agree, but only to an extent. If we go too long without any lovely teasers, people will begin to get bored. Even now members of the fan base are getting tired of waiting, so while OWI certainly have the right idea, let us hope they don't carry it through for too long.

Having said that, I could hardly be more excited...

*drools in anticipation*

yes, I'm very excited by that new project too, If only we could know the name of it, only the name, pleaseeeeeeee , that will not ruin the game... the naaaaaaaame

I am sure Lanning is really enjoying this. Tortureing us fans who just want a name or some small peace of information at least so we can sleep at night! Hehe I can see it now Lanning is probably sitting in his office laughing at us right now. Ah yes nothing like Oddworld sadistic behavior! I love it! At least they should give us the title there is no harm in that right? Anything else I want as secret.

Hopefully some information will come out! It's nearly been a year since MO was released.

I mean, with Oddworld Universe i'm bearly able to get any news!

Unfortunately, I cant really get excited about the next game, coz Im not getting an Xbox till Xmas or my B'Day (which is 9 days afterwards). But an exciting development has occurred. Just recently, I went down to my local K-Mart and discovered the price of MO has gone from $99.95 to $59.95, which is good for the AUS$. So when I get all my Xmas+B'day money, I can go and buy it and still have enough money left over to get another game, or possibly the next OW game if its out around then (which I doubt, but Im still hopeful:D).

Anyway, to go along with the relevant subject, I couldnt care less if the next game is or isnt a sequel to MO. Maybe they have released the name of HOO coz they are including it as a bonus game on the next release or something. *shrugs* Only time will tell I suppose...

Yeah, but they didn't start work on O4 until this year and a lot of that time has been spent working on the new Xbox engine. We will have to wait until late next year for O4 but once the Xbox engine is complete, they should be able to come out with games more regularly, I think

yes, once the engine is done the most difficult part is over.
so the games can be made easely

I think Lorne would enjoy knowing that we're hungrilly watching his every move and waiting like dogs from him to throw us a bone. :fuzwink:

do you realy think he enjoy that? maybe he is extremely carefully to do not disapoint us, and that can be annoying for him too

My guess is he is really desperate to tell us something, but he doesnt want to make the same mistake he did with MO.

I think your right Big Bro. I mean it makes perfect sense why he would do that. He doesn't want the same mistake he he made when MO came out. Infact he practically gave us the entire game before it even came out.

The main problem with how Munch's Oddysee was handled that a lot of information was released. Therefore when the game was finally released on the Xbox, a lot of people were like "oh this isn't included" and "how come this was shown to us, but now it's changed". And they had certain expectations of the game and then for whatever reason were dissapointed that the final game did not meet these expectations they had.

Therefore with the next game, they are keeping everything top secret. Even when myself and Pilot visited the studios earlier this year we were shown nothing of the new game. On our previous visits we were shown information on Munch, but this time around it was all very much under wraps. But the impression we were given was due to the reasons I've mentioned above that this is why they have chosen to take this stance this time around.

And anyway, we will all be pleasantly surprised when we do begin to see information I am sure! :)

I dont think people are really bothered about the story that much. Nor what its going to be based around, just who's going to be in it and possibly one new character (Or a characters head) so they can theorise.
