Munch's first name is...

Hiya,
I was researching for the update of my site, and I found that Munch's name is Latamire Munch..? Is that serious?? I supose it is cos it was on the Oddworld.com website...
Bye,

Latamire Munch is official

Yes originally Munch had the first name of Latamire. It was never mentioned in the game but it dosn't hurt anyone to keep it.

Xavier 10-02-2002 02:44 AM

yes it is official, but we never saw it in the game like Khanz said, it's just good to know

Wil 10-02-2002 05:47 PM

Paul O'Conner said that the name Latamire had actually been dropped - but then a) there's nothing in the games to say that Munch doesn't have that first name; and b) the name is mentioned seriously in a Dear Alf.

Interestingly, it is apparent that Abe's was originally called Abraham (just look at some concept art, I'm sure you'll find it). I imagine it would be rather sweet if, when Abe meets Sam, Sam says something like "Hello, Abraham."

Aaah, how cute that would be.

Xavier 10-02-2002 05:53 PM

you can see it here...

well I often agree with you, but I don't like that Idea,
since Abe has allways been called "Abe" in the games and everywhere else (except on some Concept Art, okay) I don't see any reason why Sam should call him Abraham

Jacob 10-02-2002 06:22 PM

Because Sams his mother...and thus would use his whole name unless told otherwise.

Miss Odd 10-02-2002 08:30 PM

Abe's name is Abraham?? Oh, how coolies! I never knew that...

I think it would be sooo sweet if Sam called Abe, Abraham! I dont think it would spoil anything..

Abe is short for Abraham, it makes sense. I don't think that will be put in though.

TheKhanzumer 10-02-2002 09:28 PM

names

How would Sam know Abe's full name? How would she even know Abe unless someone told her about the terrorist. I'll bet she knows very little about the happenings of oddworld.

Also, don't mudokons generally name each other. I wonder who said, "Hey, see that guy with the stitches. The blueish one. I think we should call him Abraham."

sO fReAkIn oDd 10-02-2002 09:31 PM

Good point, I absolutely forgot about how Sam doesnt know any of her children and that Mudokons name each other.

Mac the Janitor 10-02-2002 11:49 PM

Yeah, she makes lotsa lotsa eggs every day, I'm sure she doesn't have time to name 'em all...

Miss Odd 10-03-2002 01:49 AM

Of course.. I never thought about that either!! ^^

How sad... has Sam been cooped up in the Industrial world, or is she free in somewhere like Necrum?? I've never thought about that before..

*looks over her post* Man.. I don't think a lot, do i? ^^

No, Sam and a whole bunch of Mudokon 'Mid-Wifes' are being held captive somewhere in the Magog Cartel.

Anyway, I think Sam would know who Abe was. They would probably put pictures up around in her nest area so she would know who Abe is just in case he infiltrated it.

I just thought of a little story for when Abe meets Sam:

Abe enters through an unguarded pipeline and, not knowing where he is, looks around and spots Sam. Not knowing what to do or say, he slowly walks up to her. He sees her holding one of her babies then it quickly gets taken away by a Mudokon Mid-Wife. He slowly moves up the steps and halts when he sees her look up at him and weakly smile. "...M...Mom?", he says as a tear painfully rolls down his cheek. Now struggling to hold down his crying, the screen pushes into a close up on his eyes, "Mom?....Mommy??", he says with a growing sad smile. "Hello, Abraham...", she says mellowly, "Ive been waiting for you, my son...".

Ill leave the rest to yer imaginations;).

That is the sweetest thing I have ever read of the OWF!!! Do you write Fan Fics? You certainly have a gift for writing them.. ^^

Poor Sam. I always wondered how Mudokons become to be there... in the Industrial World.

If Mudokons are bred in the Industrial World, then why arn't they bad?

well logicly sam never saw Abe, cause, when Abe came out off his egg it was in RuptureFrams, away from Sam

so, how could Sam reminder of a mud she never saw?

Ummm, BigBro already answered that question!!! This is his quote:

There would be posters of Abe and Munch, and also.. What is the Weirdos came to her in a vision? Just like Abe???

Xavier 10-03-2002 01:46 PM

okay, but the point is, she dunno he is called abraham and will call him Abe like everybody else

paramiteabe 10-03-2002 01:46 PM

I balieve Sam gave birth to Abe for a purpose. Her escape! A long time ago Sam gave birth to Abe. Seeing Abe for the first time she thought that was a sign in perhaps one day Abe will find her. And somehow Abe is destined to return to his mother but now Abe might of forgotten about his long lost mother and now Abe will probably soon find out through the Almighty Raison and that is where I balieve Munch plays a role in this. With Munch's sonar it acts as a tracking device connected through Sam somehow. The Raison brings light to this. That is what I think could happen.

Jacob 10-03-2002 04:12 PM

All these are very good but this is what actually happened/happens;

Sam gave birth to the egg of Abe. As she awaited for one of the Sligs/Mudokon Mid-wives to take it away she felt an urge to keep it safe, so upon doing this she got one of the Shrinks to hide it. However, as Shrinks want to presserve their life, this one feared it may get killed if it does such a thing. And thus gives the egg to the people who take it and tells on Sam, whom then gets sedated even heavier...

BB, your story was good but the whole 'emotional' reunion thing is kinda...whats the word...crude. And i dislike it.

Abe breaks into the place were Sam is and walks upto her, she looks at him puzzled, wondering who he is. He says "Hello" she says "F*ck off..." no...erm...she replies with "Hi?" anyway, they get talking when the alarms go off. Munch whom was screwing around with the Shrinks and stuff gets disturbed, the Shrinks go back to normal, sound the alarm and attempt to attack Abe. Sligs run in, and in fear of losing their prized possession shoot Sam in the head...Abe then runs away, full of hate and anger and turns to the dark side. Slaying all Sligs and Slig larvae in an effort to avenge his mothers Death. By the end of it Abe is like "You little piece of sh..." and draws his lightsabre, destroying everything and anything in his path...Munch runs away.

Ahh, isnt that a bit harsh... I mean, dont you even like Oddworld?

Jacob 10-03-2002 10:57 PM

Its realistic. I didn't like the way he said 'Mommy' its just so "Bleeeeuch!!". It might be because i dont like it when un-attractive people cry...hmmm...but it would be a twist. I dont mind OW, im just a MASSIVE groupie like some...most people.

Nate 10-04-2002 01:16 AM

When Abe first meets Sam, I think she would be the first person to sound the alarm; She may not like her life but she is addicted to all sorts of Vykkers' sedatives. If she were freed, her access to those drugs would be cut off. My guess is that when Abe goes to rescue her, he will bring Alf and a dumpster truck full of tea so that they can put her into rehab immediately

Nah, I dont. But, from what my English teacher, my Mum, and my School Certificate had told me, Im really good at English *shrugs*.
:

Im guessing coz theyre slaves and have developed hatred towards their captors, so, rather than be bad, they are relying on someone to come and free them.
:

Well, Abe is short for Abraham, so unless shes really hopped up on drugs, I think shed know that Abe is an abbreviation.;)

Hmm.....Munch using his sonar sounds a little too far-out, but the rest sounds feasible. Giving birth to Abe may have been predicted, but, as the quote goes:

His scarred hand branded on moons Odd face,
This hero may free the Mudokon race,

With skin of blue, and spirit guids too,
Only he can save our bones from brew,

But shall he fall to Glukkon yolk,
Mudokon nation, be doomed to croak?

So, Im guessing his birth was some sort of prophecy. Is there another poem-thing in MO? Coz I wont know for another few months.

*Shakes head* If you were being held in a place being forced to give birth to millions of Mudokons, wouldnt you want to be free even though youre getting free drugs? I like the idea of Alf rehabilitating her with tea, though:D:lol:.

(P.S. Sorry for the length of this post)

Its probably because they are brought up in that enviroment and thus dont know anything about freedom or life outside. Thus they just get on with their tasks without thinking to much about anything else...

If you were addicted to [insert drug name or bad habit here], destroyed your life, lost your family and were reduced to living off the streets and stealing money to feed your habit, wouldn't you want to be free etc etc?

It happens all the time. People hate the situation they are in but stay there because of an addiction

Yeah, remember at the beginning of AO?

Abe was talking about thinking he had a good job.

So they don't know that it gets better than slavery cuz that's all they have seen...

BigBro 10-07-2002 08:54 AM

OK, ok, I was just theorising, you dont have to rub it in...:(

Mac the Janitor 10-07-2002 11:43 AM

Jeez, sorry. I wasn't trying to rub it in, just pointing something out in a friendly way...

Jacob 10-07-2002 04:53 PM

I'll rub it in...you were wrong.
