I read that and I first thought brittanie meant within the physics of Oddworld (she may have meant that, I'm not sure). I mean, Alf said that Abe can only possess creatures with a reasonable level of intelligence (thus he can't possess slogs - does anyone have this quote?). As farts are small puffs of methane without a brain or central nervous system, how does abe possess them?

Have you played AE. I think thats the desired knowledge wanted here. You posses your farts as Abe if you drink soulstorm brew. It acts as a scout and deadly bomb.

Weren't you meant to reply Nate Dogg Woof? You must have hit the wrong button.

The only reason is because it is ODD! :D

Or lack of communication...

Actually Abe can possess slogs and any other creature that we know of so far (minus the native species who he would never need to possess). As for the farts... Well, if he can project his conciousness into other creatures I don't see why not inanimate objects and gases or even liquids. His mind (in the form of a possesion orb) simply holds the gases together and moves them around. Technically this is not possession, in the sense that farts don't have minds, but works about the same.

I agree.

would be cool to control water in one of the next games, or something like that.

General Drippik 09-12-2002 09:52 PM

Controling water? Cool. Controling fire? Even better.

Xavier 09-13-2002 02:24 PM

water is often more power full than fire...
and the connexion abe controling water and munch can be intresting

elements

since were talking about elements, he could create tornados, or earthquakes.

General Drippik 09-15-2002 08:49 AM

That's a bit extreme, but possible.

Wil 09-15-2002 10:49 AM

I don't know, Abe having control over the elements seems a little far-fetched (aside form the power of storm circles and the like). If we need a character to control waves, flames and winds it should be a new character, not a tacked-on power for an existing one.

Besides, if Abe has too many powers, there won't be enough buttons on the controller to use them all.

What I'd like to see is a character that can control plantlife (besides the Mudokons being able to spurt plant and fungal growth).

Xavier 09-15-2002 03:02 PM

could be...
well, lets say the big elements can be controled only by a group mudokons+instaltion, like the rainmakers, and that fits in the gameplay and story

meech-venerator 09-21-2002 08:38 AM

all those powers u wanna give Abe, they'd just spoil the game. I'll have to agree with Xavier that u need several muds and an installation to control elements and stuff.
A nice structure could be a "possession-magnifier", like possess a whole Glukkon city, or something... just for once, in some part of the plot. there could be something like that in ME, no?

Xavier 09-21-2002 09:57 AM

imagine a energy pit, like in the end Of AO in gameplay, i think it would spoil the game, but in cinematics it's just incredible good!

so power for abe? yes! In gameplay? maybe

Maybe he can possess farts as they have the bones of his ancestors in the brew/the tears of other Muds. But that doesnt explain how he can possess th bells in AO.*shrugs*

Wil 09-24-2002 04:46 PM

Mudokon bones wouldn't explain it, since Mudokons are unable to possess one another. As for the bells, I dunno. Still, a little blind faith never hurt anybody important.

And for 'energy well' read Shadowlock. :fuzwink:
