Oddworld boardgame
 

Who likes to play boardgames / cardgames? If so, which games?

And yes this is a oddworld related question (so don't move to off topic please) because: would you like to see an Oddworld boardgame, and how should it be.

I know a few great game-makers (like Reiner Knizia) who could make a terrific game. (He made a game from Tolkiens LOTR to, so he could to a great job on making an Oddworld game to).

Would you be interessted?

well, I'm not intrested, realy. I think those kind of games is to much expencive...

A board game eh? That would be fun. It can be something like Monopoly where you have to collect Moolah to start your Magog industry. You are either the natural world where you collect spooce to put up your native structures or you are industrial where you strip the land and build your industry. Kind of like what Hand of Odd will be like but a board game. I can see little moolah bills going with your game plus really cool pictures on the board itself. Then you get mini green and red factories to set up on your board and a bunch of cards with Oddworld information on the back. Your moveing pieces can look just like the characters but they will be like Monopoly pieces where they are like silver. Some look like Glukkens other industrial races or they will look like Mudokins and other races aswell.

Or you can have characters like Abe, Munch, Irwen, Humphery, Molluck, etc. I can really see an Oddworld Monopoly board game.

yeah why not, It could be a good idea, but something original.

That would be excellent, especially the monopoly version.

Oddworld board games and card packs would be great if done decently. A straight conversion of Monopoly could be disasterous, but a little fine-tuning might do wonders.

I don't know how'd I'd feel about collectable Oddworld cards. Obviously I'd buy them, but what would be the point in them (besides making OWI richer, which we all want)?

well, an oddworld card game will be to expencive for me, cause I know my self and I will try to get all the cards, whith is impossible

I agree with you Max, it should be a decent game, not just an Oddworld version of an existing game (like monopoly). And gamemakers like Teuber, Knizia, Kramer & Kiesling (and others too) have a great reputation.

With card game I didn't mean exactly a 'collect-em-all' cardgame, but more like a boardgame without a board, a real GAME, but only with special 'Oddworld cards'. (Cardgames are cheaper then boardgames, plus they give more variety, so it doesn't become dull).

when u say card-game, do u mean like "magic" cards? it would be nice to have the cards to play, and some cards with info on Oddworld, not just the actual HP and the stuff(I'm assuming u're thinking "magic")
As to the boardgame, I like the idea (especially if there's a meech peon), and paramiteabe explained it so well.:)

what I don't like by magic is that "collection" optic.
you must buy lots of cards to have a "decent" game.
I prefer some pack where you KNOW wath's in there

I think having an OW Board Game would be going a little too far. Besides, theyre doing fine with just the VGs anyway, so why move into another genre?

Although the idea of an OW Board game does intrigue me a little, I still think its selling themselves out if they go that way.

They said something about OW Merchandising, but they couldnt do it coz of the liscensing or something, but I just think theyre saying that so they dont disappoint everyone coz they probably dont want to do it anyway:fuzblink: .

it will not be a card gmae OR a video game
it will be an extra. of cource they focus more on the games

Considering that there is a Monopoly game for every second thing that gains popularity lately - *cough, choke* Pokemon *cough* - it seems unlikely that Oddworld would go down this path.

Also, a game like Monopoly is entirely about making money and getting rich through properties, so therefore if there were an Oddworld game like such it would need to show both sides (like Paramiteabe mentioned) ... as Oddworld don't mind showing us the industrial side of things, but it is done in a way that highlights the problems of such.
