Console or PC?
Hello everyone. I wondered if you like consoles or PCs for games? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of both?
I prefer consoles. Here is why. You don't have to install software to play games, so you can just put the CD in and play your game straight away. You can play on a huge screen TV with surround sound. Plus my favorite games are mostly on PS2. :D I don't mind some PC games, but I don't like installing too much on my computer. Although PC is good for playing online, as PS2's online system is not complete yet. I cannot wait to play Final Fantasy XI online. It should be a lot of fun. The only thing I don't like about consoles and PC games is that sometimes a game you like isn't on the console you own. Like if you want to play FFX you need a PS2 and if you want to play Munch you need a Xbox and some people do not have these consoles or their parents won't let them have them. That happend with my friend, I let her play my PS2 as she likes Final Fantasy too. |
Personally i like consoles.....I just think its more gameish...And more fun to play on:fuzsmile:

Both. I wish I had a brillaint PC with a GeForce 4 with my XBox.
they botyh have their advantages. A high end PC is more powerful than any consoles out at the minute. Consoles get great games anyway, but with a high end PC, you are gauranteed to get most of the best system demanding games thatw ill come out. Consoles, however are better for quick and easy play (none of that patch downloading crap), more comfortable to play pn your sofa far away from the TV, multiplayer games are better for having your mates coming over for a laugh. Still, I'd choose both. WIth an XBox, I'm very confident that it'd get most of the most system demanding games out there. |
There was a large topic over this some while ago. I'll dig it up later. In the mean time I'll put it this way:
For pure games, they both are good. I now have a very, very good PC (came yesterday) for games. PC has things like Half Life, The Sims, Operation Flashhpoint, Ranbow Six (all other copies suck) with as many add ons as I can count, etc... Plus theres always ROMS. As for consoles, if you could have multiple, sure, but 1 on one with a PC: I'd probably choose the PC. I'd miss Halo and Gran Turismo 2 though. I just like the advantage of easily accessing chat, online games, etc... |
Well, here's the reasons I prefer consoles:
1. They're made just to run games, and therefore can do much more than PCs 2. Many more games are made for them 3. Halo 4. Morrowind 5. Project Ego -Mac |
PC games usually have better replay values because frequent updates and mods are always poppin' up, aswell as online play. XBOX will be online in a little over two months, so it too will be getting downloadable material and online play, followed by PS2... not sure what's going on with GCN. Consoles are my choice.:) :)

In the past if you were an online player then you would say PC, but with the advancement of console gaming and their ability for supporting online games then it's about a line ball. Yes consoles have the better range but it's a lot cheaper for the Internet to run on a PC rather than a console. And PC seem to get better in power every day while a console is stuck with what they have until a better version comes out. But Console for range ability.

console games have less installing time
pc games have a keyboard interface (which can be good or bad) console games can be rented pc games CAN be "burned" (not that anyone does this) console games have a controroller (w/ or w/o rumble) mouse has 5 buttons max console uses TV which is 40 times bigger than monitor at my house pc uses internet over phone line console = mobile pc = updates and patches (good or bad ) (diablo 2 had bad patches) console has no registration requirement screens to go through and no set up pc lets you adjust more settings console usually loads in less time pc can have more skins and mods in my opinion console is the way to go since its cheaper for easier "instant gaming" go all out on PC if yer loaded or skilled at modding. |
