the supernatural creature in Japan...

[ Shigeru Misuki ]

He is one of the cartoonists most famous for Japan.
He is a cartoonist and also an ethnologist.
This is his work which imagined the supernatural creature who comes out in a folktale and a tradition of Japan. Do you see this and how feel?

Hello Loup. I don't really know much about details of creatures and the like. But my favorite supernatural creatures are dragons and unicorns. I also like creatures that can use magic. I saw some others here that like dragons too. Perhaps they can tell you more.

paramiteabe 08-28-2002 10:21 AM

Well my favorite supernatural creatures would probably have to be Centars and Orcs

sligster 08-28-2002 02:17 PM

Ummm..... Do Chupacabra's count as supernatural creatures?

oddling 08-28-2002 06:41 PM

Sligs! If they count as supernatural! If not, DRAGONS!!!!!!!!! Sligs, Dragons, and Fairies. These are just a few of my favorite things.

Vampires, Werewolves, Inccubi, Succubi & Changlings...

Although i cant stand the twats who believe they are the 'actual' Vampires. Whom dress in black, say they 'dislike' the sun and sleep like the traditional Vampire. Idiots.

Loup Garou 08-31-2002 11:25 AM

It's very good that people writes but I need to know:

Jacob: What the h**l is changlings, but I'll also need to know their weakness (including succubis and inccubis)

Sligster: Chupacabra?

Atusiya: Shingeru Musiki?, well that was his imaginations of the Japanese folktales, but you didn't answered my question, what's YOURS favourite supernatural creature?

Sincerely: Loup Garou

Jacob 08-31-2002 04:42 PM

Inccubi are male Demons who kidnap women in the night and rape them.

Succubi do the same but they are female and rape the men.

They can be killed like a human i believe.

GTdragon 09-01-2002 01:52 PM

Creatures eh?

Well, Me?.hmm....anything thats horribly disfigured and gorey, Especially if they have at least one eye hanging from there face. But, then my no. 1 Supernatural creature would be DRAGONS (Of course) and anything to do with oddworld!!

atusiya@ 09-01-2002 11:25 PM

ryu 09-21-2002 05:51 PM

super natural

myne simple of course a shrykrull and sligs!

General Drippik 09-22-2002 12:46 AM

I like all the demons out of Silent Hill 2. The spear holding Pyramid Head happens to be my favorite, with no waknesses except another Pyramid Head stabbing him through the neck.

And coming in second is the nurse demon, with the human flesh wrapped around her face. I like usin the chainsaw to stab them in the gut. Ah!

Joshy 09-23-2002 09:23 AM

creatures

My favourite supernatural creature must be the phoenix.
(no bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings)

The Sour Slig 09-23-2002 04:24 PM

Shamblers (Undead), Wraiths and vampires.

Reason?

Shamblers - Ever played Return To Castle Wolfenstien? The undead minions are extremely cool and scary. I think of undead humanoid creatures to be like this. Frail bodies, drained of life (hard to move) but super natural strength driven buy hunger for flesh, blood and muscle to gain physical strength. Intelligent and cunning creatures. This is my vision of them anyways.

Wraiths - Spirits and spectors. The ability to haunt and scare, create illusions but not all able to harm...physically. Use of mental torture as a form of revenge against somebody who wronged them in their life.

Vampires - Forget wooden stakes, jesus's cross and all that razamatazz, these are just a super human species sent down by god to kill off human species. The human project failed myserably, and so the vampires are left on earth as predators to kill off the human species or to create more vampires. Some vamps sent up by Satan to battle God's vampires. Living off human blood, thse super humans posses supernatural strength and smaller vampires are acrobatic (larger ones being even stronger). The day light does not kill them, but merely weakens them. The sight of the cross only stuns Satan's vampires. Only few can assume a gasious form or turn into a bat or feral.

Jacob 09-23-2002 05:16 PM

I'd say thats a real good version of Vamps, apart from the turning thing.

The Devil and God worked together, but failed once they realised that humans are much more eviler than anything else. As they used all their powers to attempt to wipe out the race of humans, they inevitably failed. Humans had created living quaters that could survive Earthquakes. Underground bunkers that could survive Twisters and so on and so forth. So, they sent up a horde of Vampyres. This horde battled with the humans but eventually started to back down. Now God and the Devil are powerless and cannot bring their minions back to their Dimensions. Decapitation causes the Vamps to burst into dust, as does a hard object through the heart. Cross' dont do anything. Holy water burns the Devils Vamps a bit, but does no serious damage...They can also turn others to their cause and the older Vamps can move things slightly, although this drains them of energy.

The Sour Slig 09-25-2002 06:22 PM

The turning does not work by a single bite. Have you seen Interview with the vampire? Its the best vampire film I've ever seen, and thats how I portray the turning to work... the vampire drains the human to almost death, and then gives him/her the choice to drink the vampire's blood (and become a vampire) or die.

And I don't believe in any of this, but it makes interesting stories. Satan in my imagination is God's brother. Not an evil one, mind you, but not purely good. God crated Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden as an experiment to see if humans will work as a race. The apple tree of sin was placed there to test their will power against giving into temptation. Gold told Adam and Eve that the sin tree would cause the world to become full of sin. he just made this up to scare them both and to make the experiment more tense. The experiment was really to see if Humans would sacrifice others for their own pleasure (eating a delicious paple would cause sin to cover the world). Eve picked the apples off the tree, but shared them with Adam. Both gave into temptation.

God was not pleased with the result and decided to kill Adamn and Eve and try something else. Satan (Lucifer) did not approve of this... killing huamns for eating apples... he thought that they just didn't understand what sin would cause, it wasn't even real. God ignored his brother and killed Adam and Eve. Satan was angry at this and protested against God. Fuming with anger, God killed his own brother, casting him into a flaming pit and creating "Hell", the prison to trap his spirit. There, Satan was now a fallen angel (Him being a high angel before with not as much authority as God had). Almost everybody in heaven was in favor of God's decision. Those who wasn't cast themselves into hell to join Satan. Enraged with anger, they formed together and overtook Hell and made it their own domain. God lost any interest he could spare for Satan, and was too busy on his new project... the Apes.

He decided to create ape men/woman that was slowly evolve into humans, to see if the result would be more pleasing for him. Meanwhile, Satan believing that God was full of sin started up his own army against God. However, nothing was heard from them until apes were almost fully evolved into men and women, and were learning about god. Satan was angered that they were taught that God is good and satan is evil and all that razamatazz. It was Satan who created vampires. They were sent up to convert men and women or kill those who refuse. This would expand Satan's army. These actions were just as evil as those done by God. God originally created his own vampires to kill off Satan's vampires and to protect the humans. But as a thousand years went past (after the birth of jesus), God wasn't happy once again with the way humans were turning out. With them disbelieving in him and some being totally evil, he decided to kill them off by sending his vampires down once again. Now it is Satan's vampires who protect humaity, yet they still try to turn more human beings into vampires.

Satan's hatred for his brother had driven him quite insane and goes to any lengths to hurt him or convince others to hate him. God keeps it more cool, letting his angels, vampires and other species do the work for him.

And this is the brief version. this is actually what the story of one of my games is based on :)

General Drippik 09-26-2002 04:26 AM

Satan is Lucifer? Thank you for telling me!! On the movie 'Dogma', they keep talking about 'Lucifer', and I don't even know who it is! Well, I didn't anyway.
