Yes,it is....
We can see The Simpsons through "Sky Perfect TV! "( It's Japan's largest-scale digital satellite broadcast service offering the widest selection of channels in the world).
Since 20th century fox has rationed the program, it is PPV.
The popularity of The Simpsons is not at the reason common in Japan.
However, since the character of The Simpsons is unique, The Simpsons considers as the advertisement's of "" C.C Lemon" (Carbonated drink plus vitamin-C plus lemon taste), and appears on Japanese television. .

Masamune and Vasquez

I am a big fan of Masamune Shirow's work and I am also a fan of Jhonen Vasquez. I like anime/manga with a dark feel to it.

Disgruntled Intern 08-24-2002 04:00 PM

Jhonen Vasquez, Roman Dirge....Jim Mahfood....But my all time favorite is Tim Burton. He's a flipping visionary.

atusiya@ 08-25-2002 12:15 PM

for Ross and Disgruntled Intern

[Masamune Shirow ]

Probably, his popularity of overseas one will be higher than Japan
His works belongs to the comics of the same category as Evangelion or Gundam.

http://www.yamato-toys.co.jp/appleseed/

[Tim Burton ]

He is well known from the movie fan in Japan.
The first impression of his works is...

{[Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas] + [Trey Parker's South Park ]} / 2=Roman Dirge's"LENORE "
*South Park fan site

[Jhonen Vasquez]

It got to know that Disgruntled Intern's Avatar was his works(JV) for the first time today.
He got to know that it was a wonderful artist today. I don' know know at all about Invader Zim.
Is it a black comedy?

[JJim Mahfood ]

I had not seen his works till today.
His Technique is very high !
...although The part of his works has the contents which are not shown for a child . :(

Disgruntled Intern 08-25-2002 04:01 PM

atusiya@'s father, many of the artists I listed have content that is not really suitable for a child....

Invader zim isn't really that dark and morbid, really. A lot of people really enjoy it.

TheKhanzumer 08-25-2002 09:56 PM

goth

To be honest I'm not a big fan of Jhonen's comic book plot's since they tend to be incredibly violent, obscene, dark, evil, depressing, etc... But I do love his style of artwork and Invader Zim is one of my favorite cartoons.

As for Shirow... I haven't really read any of his comics either but I like the artwork.

The sad thing is, many of the people love his comics because they tend to be so dark and morbid...and violent.

I personally love them for the humor, stories, and the almost subliminal morals in many of them.
I fail to see how they're depressing, though...

In several of the stories, I could almost relate some of my primal urges to Nny's way of life...but then, I also felt really sorry for him.

Taboos, ( such as violence, homicide, sex, war, discrimination, exploitation, and rule), exist also by the time of when.
However, we cannot bypass these....
Small children cannot do understanding these. It is merely only it. Moreover, many adults do not understand it, either.
.....History repeats itself.

[Hayao Miyazaki ]

Now, he is respected by the animation fan in the world. However, to me,.
Originality is missing, although his works is excellent. (Bad second)
Probably especially our generation's people in Japan will feel so. ( I am 41 years old now.)
We looked at gthe dawn of the animation of Japanh.
And about 35 years or more have passed.
The our knowledge over animation is very abundant .
Although the work of Miyazaki is a good work when it says from us, I do not think that it is very uncanny.
The work of Miyazaki is hypocritical and is not impressed.
....Rather than his works,

Our generation's people looks at Disney's Pinocchio, c.and We are impressed by it and shed tears to it.....

[ Jhonen's style...]

I think that his works has taken in many techniques of etching of Bernard Buffet. You (=Ross) should take to the atmosphere.

***anyway.....***
By the way, I desire to write many posts in his thread.

Kenichi Sonada - Gunsmith Cats
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto - Evangelion

atusiya@ 09-02-2002 01:19 AM

"otaku" of category

[Kenichi Sonada - Gunsmith Cats ]
http://the.animearchive.org/gunsmithcats/
Do you know the word "OTAKU"? .
The word called "OTAKU" in Japan was in fashion in the beginning of the 1980s.
"OTAKU" means " house" or "home" in English.
"OTAKU" bears a strong resemblance to the word "maniac" who says in English.
In a narrow sense, "OTAKU" shows the thing of young men with an interest extraordinary about animation or comics generally. Their association is very weak. Its small group is formed and it enjoys itself in it.
They exhibit comics drawn by themselves etc. in their group, or publish a coterie magazine.
His(= Kenichi Sonada )art work is supported by people of "OTAKU."

About Evangelion, it is needless to say, and Yoshiyuki Sadamotof‚“ art works are the popular comics(or amime) currently supported all over the world.

I think it the right selection that you read my thread and introduced H.R.Giger to the member here. He is genius.
About him, I also think that I also want the member of this forum to surely know.

Today,it is becoming impossible for a painter, a aimeter, and a cartoonist to distinguish clearly .
The mutual work field is connected deeply.
It is not an overstatement although it belongs to the same category as three persons.

I think that the same thing can say also to an ODDWORLD.

"Is an ODDWORLD a mere game? ."
" No, it is different."
" Then, is it a mere movie? ."
" No, it is different."
" Then, what is an ODDWORLD? ."
" It is an art."
We can often find also on OWF the member who is doing such discussion.....

I quite like manga/anime styled art/cartoons.

I'd have to say that Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of my favourites, but they really stuffed up the last few episodes! I mean, couldn't anyone lend them a bit of money!?

I also have taken a liking to Ranma 1/2. It's a good laugh, especially the movies.

Alcar...

[Hideaki Anno] Director: Mechanical Design:Writer
He is "otaku" which accepts oneself and others.
He can completely carry out alone from a story to animation creation.
It is the skill of a sketch that he is excellent.
Evan was broadcast by midnight in 1996 for "otaku" (the high school student, the college student, young office worker) of animation or a comics lover.
The television station was not so much expected to Evan.
Evan is difficult and full of mysteries moreover so that "otaku" may be glad.
The reason from which televising became the close suddenly is as follows.
Popularity has come out of Evan unexpectedly.
And the televising period was extended.
However, it is because making Evan's story did not do and manufacture of animation did not meet the deadline, either.
The company made a large profit, thanks to Evan, and hungry spirit also disappeared.

I am only one who liked the last episodes. Personally, I thought that it was better that everyone's "solution" wasn't revealed during Instrumentality. At least it gave you a chance to guess what happened for yourself. I mean, a perfect ending just wouldn't match the rest of the series.

Plus, we have the cool Eva movies now. That's good enough for me. Can't wait for End of Eva! :D

Since they profited by Evan, I already think that manufacture volition does not spring. It is sold at Japan to such zippo. They are the mere merchants instead of a creator.
