Who'd be interested in helping make an Oddworld add on for Half Life?
 

I have been making plans to create an add on for a game about Abe and his chums battling it out against the evil Magog Cartel in a first person perspective adventure. The reason I chose Half Life is because is because its a fairly simple engine and I can create levels for it with ease. Also, a Half Life game can run on just about everybody's computer nowadays.

I was hoping that some people here would be interested in taking part, as I would love to see an oddworld game in first person. My ideas are that the game isn't going to be a shooter only. It'll have the FPS elements in it as it would hopefully be possible to posses sligs and creatures alike, but I'm wanting the add on to have alot of puzzles and straetgy involved with ledge climbing and platforms like in the original Abe games. In first person, I'm sure this would be a thrilling experience.

We'd definately need programmers whoa re experienced with the half life engine or are willing to get to grips with it, somebod ywith 3D Studio max or a similair model editing programme to create the oddworld creatures we all love (or hate), level designers (which I'll be a part of), artists (texture design, skin design) and anybody willing to contribute to the story (ideas for a solid immersive plot). Somebody good with sound would be helpful too, and voice overs for characters would be splendid! Any other ideas would be a great help, so it could be something taht everybody could chip in.

I don't want to rush into this however. This is something that would require time and planning.

So if you would like to contribue in some way, that would be great. Or if you know somebody that would be interested, get them here :)

Ah... I would be interested in helping, but I have no programs capable at all for game design, nor do I have the expirience. I would help with story though, but this might not pull through if only you can design. (that or really short).

Aw crud, Majic beat me to it, oh well, like Majic, I have no game softwear, I have no programing expirience, but I'm good with story lines, um.... how about if for some reason, Majic cannot complete his duties, can i take his place? Pweeeese?

He never said that only 2 people could do story:) Anyways, you may want this in GD, for the next admin that sees this. More Oddworld fans that can help may be there.

Ok, cool. When (or if) I get more people to help, we'll start to think about the story. For now, you could think up some ideas for one if you like?

Hey Mojoman, you talking about Unreal Tornament? Well I have the Unreal Editor, and the game could be used for Deus Ex... what could you do with the unreal engine? If just level design, I'll stick with the Half Life engine, because Desu Ex is a pretty demanding game.
