Questions, questions.....
I wasn't sure which area this should go in, so I'm sorry if this annoys anyone.
I want to ask about some of the creatures I've heard about in Oddworld, but I've never seen any information on them. Can someone explain what is known about them? Like the Chroniclers and Sea rexes? Thanks. |
Hmmmmmm, Ok I'll try to answer these as best I know.
Lets see, Chroniclers- These guys are basicly the Accountants, bankers, thieves, Stock brokers and just about any other form of occupation that has to do with money. At the moment they are nagging Lady Margret about the certain fincances that she owes them on Rupture Farms and Soul Storm Brewery. Now for Sea Rexes, I can't say I really know anything about them except that they are large, quick, and they like to hunt Gabbits. You'll have to ask Max or Khanz for more. |
|
Sorry to intrude...
Chroniclers - like Oddsville said, these are the aristocrats of Oddworld's industrial society - accountants, stock brokers, lawyers and thieves, these one-legged snobs will resort to the latest in...shall we say, persuasion technology, without trying the more friendly approaches first to make sure their money is in the right place. Now, when Abe shut down RuptureFarms 1029, he ground the Magog Cartel's biggest business into the ground - RuptureFarms is bankrupt. With Molluck dead (or so he would have us believe), somebody's got to pay the Choniclers their money, and unless some foolish Gluk steps into to take the blame, that somebody is Queen Margaret. In the few days that have passed since AO, the Chroniclers and Glukkons have fallen apart, hence the Slig Stock Broker in AE. Sea Rexes - Assuming suspicions are validated, the Sea Rex is a whale-like creature that roams Oddworld's oceans. If it stumbles across something smaller than itself, it eats it. They're pretty huge, bigger than any living thing we've seen on Oddworld so far. That is, of course, assuming the skeletons in the Paramite Run and Scrab Retreat are Sea Rex remains. |
max and his sweet info...
thank you max! |
:
And what does he say? |
Yes, that's the one...
In french he say something like, "sell everything, go go" |
He says:
"I'm telling you, it's that Abe guy! Sell! Dump it! Lose it! Get rid of it!" I've transcribed all the movies in AO, AE and MO. |
I hope it will be in your encyclopedia...
realy want to have the "script" of the movies |
What the....
Where do you get the information about things like that?
I feel like I hardly know anything now. :( Where Chroniclers in any of the games, or do they come later? |
no they will be in next games...
don't worry, you didn't miss them |
Don't worry, I plan to have transcripts available from The Oddworld Encyclopedia, as well as a guides to Extreme Quarma and, of course, lots of juicy info.

Think of it this way: Glukkons: Commercial Middle Class Vykkers: Academic Middle Class Chroniclers: Bureaucratic Middle Class Although obviously these definitions are very loose... By the way, I also think that Chroniclers might be Mudos's Lawyers as well. From what we know of them, they seem to have that sort of temperament... |
What's a Khanzumerz? Other than someone in the forums that is. :D
|
The khanzumerz are the most important creatures on oddworld. Somehow they got to the top of the food chain and now all of the industrial species have to make their products mainly for them.
How they got there is unknown. Why they don't have to work for their food is unknown. To be honest, nothing much is known about them. Even to the inhabitants we have seen so far (or at least Alf didn't know much about them when I asked). I believe that the khanzumerz are so physically powerful that the glukkons, vykkers, etc... all have to give them their products. Otherwise the khanzumerz would wipe them out. |
Danny, you're right. I checked, and aristocrat is definitely not the word I should have used. Blame that on insufficient knowlege of the word rather than the creature, though. :o I should, of course, have used the word...er, well, like you say, bureaucrat.
Incidently, I'm not sure I'd use the word aristocrat for Khanzumerz, either (now that I now what it means). They've been likened to tourists before, and though they clearly are not. Neverless, while they may be nobles, I doubt they are political power-weilders. |
I'm guessing that khanzumerz for the most part don't do anything. That is why I believe they are super-powerful physically. Otherwise, I can't see any good reason why all the industrialists would work for them.
|
Danny had a topic (The "Advised") about the Mudokons helping 'Species X'.
Read it? Now imagine something along those lines, but where Species X, aka the Khanzumerz, have some sort of spiritual/historical power over the industrialists - perhaps they hold some dark secret that the Glukkons don't want in on. Then again, perhaps the Khanzumerz have a button next to their beds marked 'A-Bomb detonator', or perhaps they're clairvoyant. |
:
It's odd, but I don't picture the Khanzumerz as having any real hold over the other Industrial races. I think that they used to, once, but years of luxury will have made them quite physically and mentally weak. I think the main reason the other races serve them now is simply force of habit: this is the way it's always been, as far as they are concerned. I think they worked their way to the top of the food chain using physical or mental power, or some other ability, but now they can stay there simply because of the power that comes with the position. While they are at the top of the Social Ladder, they are immensely powerful, but if you were to take them out and throw them in at the bottom again, I don't think they would still have what it takes to get up there... Rambled a bit there, sorry... |
the kahnzumerz could be humans! after 1,000,000,000 years of evolution muds, gluks, sligs, ect. all evolved from something and we are still at the top of the food chain. we got nukes, matter bombs and nutron bombs, and we could of expanded earth because of over population, after all it is 1,000,000,000 years in the futrue........
