Please give info on the Magog cartel
Hey everyone,
We first heard of the Magog cartel in AO in a story stone and there have been a few mentions since then. I just wanted to know if anyone had any more info on them. |
Yikes! Where to begin? There is so much to tell. And Max is gone so he can't do it for me. Here is a brief description until someone does better.
The Magog Cartel is the name of the glukkond industrial alliance. It is run by Maggie, the glukkon gueen and her children. They make most of their products for the khanzumerz, but we don't know why. The Cartel includes businesses such as Rupture Farms, SoulStorm Brewery and Magog Motors. There really is so much more to tell. But I'm lazy. Incredibly sorry about that. |
You're not lazy.I can imagine having to type the whole thing out.I feel sorry for Max.His fingers must get so sore.:fuzsad:

Well if you have Abe's Exoddus you know that the M.O.M stands for the Magog on the march. The Magog Cartel is all them Glukkons and their factories. That pretty much gives you a wide perspective. The details, way too many, but I'll help Thekhanzumer a little. The Magog is run by Maggie and all of the other Glukkons. Well most of them any way. It consists of Rupture Farms, Soulstorm Brewery, Splinterz, obviously Magog Motors, and many more. We barley even scratched the surface of how many factories they have! Well all these factories, well, sell shtuff. All that profit is shared between Maggie, and all the head Glukkons at that perticular factory. A very tiny percentage goes to the Sligs, yes they do get paid for sleeping on the job and letting Abe rescue hundreds of Mudokons when they aren't looking. Well um.... I can't think of nuttin. Dang it, Max hurry up allready! Jese how long does it take a guy go to the bathroom?!!!

As with all big business the Magog Cartel, is a very powerful one. in all the esence of industrial power the Magog Cartel is the top. a elaborate team of moolah rich Glucks all support the Cartel some in small business like the was going to be micro brewery and the meep ranch to the large supporters like Rupture Farms and SoulStorm Brewery. Mainly to sell to the Khanzumers this shall allow them to continue there work. All in all there is a even deeper history to it that little know about only speculation can be made. the Cartel is by far a old business probably the first one develope and grew over many years.:fuzconf:

The glukkons first began to dable in industries about the time they learned that the Chosen Heroes of Oddworld would be shown by the moons. They wanted it to be them of course but in case the moons showed otherwise they wouldn't let that stop them. For whatever reason they began taking a scientific approach to things, as opposed to the spiritual mudokons. This time was known as the Alchemy Age. Eventually science expirements turned into helpful products. The glukkons realized that if they could control the industrial business of Mudos they would become the most powerful race. Somewhere along the line came the khanzumerz who, somehow, convinced the Magog Cartel to make their food for them, even though the kahnzumerz did not work for the money they spent on it. The glukkons however, did as the khanzumerz commanded. Somewhere along the lines they enslaved the mudokons and made an alliance with the Vykkers Conglomerate.
Some of the above is speculation, especially parts concerning the history of oddworld. Hopefully more details will be revealed in future games. |
the whole thing is very broad. A intire network of industries flow through the viens of the Cartel. All with the same goal to achieve moolah and to survive. with moolah you will rise to the status. wich is what all glucks want other then Lulu who realy did not care. as far as the history is concern very little is known. only speculation can be made.

Oh, all right. Here's everything in my own words.
The Magog Cartel is the industrial corporation run by the Glukkons. Its goal: to make as much Moolah as possible through whatever means are necessary. Headed by the ferocious Lady Margaret and represented by General Molluck, this far-flung enterprise produces a wide catalogue of over-priced goods, everything from malnutricional junk food (Scrab Cakes, Paramite Pies etc.) and blubber-based fuels (FlubCo Fat Fuels) to highly toxic alcohols (SoulStorm Brew, SoulStorm Flail Ale etc.) and commercial appliances (FeeCo Fat Vats, Eyestitch etc.). The Magog Cartel is divided into many companies that each make their own profits, but ultimately serve the Cartel. Working in close association with the Chroniclers, the Glukkons are a very low grade family. While other corporations on Oddworld may choose to develop high-quality delicacies and elegant transport, the Cartel would rather serve up fattening fast foods and supply dirty mechanical equipment. I imagine that only the lower-class Khanzumerz, if such a thing exists, would dare be seen purchasing goods from the Magog Cartel. However, this doesn't stop their products from being very popular, even if the companies behind them aren't. However, long ago, when the Glukkons were first entering the industrial society of Oddworld, they had different plans - high-quality goods and inexpensive prices. It may seem difficult to imagine how the Glukkons have arrived from that to the work-ethics they hold today, but it was a long process - the Glukkons are said to 'slip another rung down the corporate ladder with every generation'. |
:
On that note, it should also be added that, while the Glukkons and the Vykkers tend to be supportive of each other when it suits them, the Glukkons try their hardest to have as little to do with the Vykkers as possible, as they totally freak them out... In fact, probably every single one of the great families of Mudos would be prefectly happy to wipe the Vykkers off the face of Oddworld, given half a chance... |
I agree with Danny on both points. I can't believe that the Magog Cartel could be so low and yet have so much Power and Moolah. Sure their food products are cheap and the factories are scummy. But us almighty khanzumerz don't really care. It's not like we would stoop so low as to monitor exactly how much effort the glukkons are actually putting into their products. As long as it has nice packaging and tastes good, we'll take it.
Low class khanzumerz... The only one I can think of is my brother. :D |
Ummmm....... I really have'nt done any reasearch on the Magog Cartel. Ummmm..... I mean I know some about it, but not alot. Heres a pic of the gluk queen:
|
Where the Hell does Maggie lay her eggs or live offspring? I just realised that there is quite a drop from her uterus so how would she put the offspring down safely?
|
Dunno, mabey there are ships that come in and catch the eggs?
|
some queen they got there....doesnt look at all like a glukkon...good question Jacob maybe Sligster is right?:fuzconf:
|
It is the Glukkon Queen. Hopefully she'll go through some changes before the final version. I dont like the shape of her head...its quite vile. But the bones above her eyes that give her a 'Crown' is quite good...
|
Hey!! I just noticed that at the bottom of my gluk queen pic, it says Arzad. Mabey theres some connection between the gluk queen and this thing that I found, but it also says Meetle at the bottom of this thing I found:
|
THAT SAYS FARZAD!!!
Farzad is one of the conceptual artists for the company OWI. Those two pics are both conceptual designs. The first is the glukkon queen Maggie and the second is a very early meetle design. |
:
1. It looks like her abdomen could be quite flexible, so she would probably be capable of laying her eggs on that platform. But that platform has what looks like high-ranking Glukkons on it, and surely they would not demean themselves by standing on the egg-laying platform? But: 2. It looks to me like she is attatched to some sort of crane-type device, or maybe something attatched to the ceiling (like the runs the Shrink moves on). If this is so, then she could be quite mobile, which fits with her character. Even though Queens are naturally sedentary creatures, Maggie is far too much of a career woman to let pregnancy stand in the way of her work. I imagine she has a huge birthing chamber, and can move (by means of the crane thing) about the chamber, from the "nest" areas, to her sleeping areas, to areas such as this where she has meetings with her staff. It doesn't look like a very comfortable mode of transport, and she isn't as mobile as she could be, but it's better than nothing... |

Concept developement is a long, interesting journey. Lots of things happen during the creative process. Ideas create new ones or fuse with ones already existing. For example the fuzzle was porbably based off of the early fleech designs. And the Almighty Raisin was never really intended to be a character, Lorne just loved a concept of something else so much that he created the elderling.
As far as the meetle sketch goes. Apparently at that stage in developement the meetles were ment to be an industrial creature that attacked with it's tail. Somehow the the meetle became a large beetle type animal which grew from a larvae. The mug is another form the same larvae can grow into. My guess is that this meetle design was combined with some other, creating the meetles and mugs we know today. |
