Mushroomhead is NOT Slipknot

I am so sick an tired of everyone claiming that Mushroomhead IS Slipknot. If you have no idea who either band is you probably won't get it.

Mushroomhead is greatly underappreciated if you've ever heard of them. If you have it's probably bashing about Mushroomhead taking Slipknot's ideas of masks. To set the record straight, Mushroomhead came out way before Slipknot. They've been making music since 1995, and that's why they're not very pupular amung the younger metalheads out there. Ever since Mushroomhead have made their appearance, they've puyt on colorful and dramatic displays on and off stage for their fans. Vocals of the band, J Mann, had said that even two of his members wore a pig and a clown mask on one of their shows before Slipknot had even been publisized.

Another thing that really turns my stomach is to hear head-strong Slipknot fans say that Mushroomhead sounds just like then. Dear LORD. Do you ever have the CD? They sound nothing like Slipknot. Slipknot has their thing, Mushroomhead has theirs. Circus magazine has once interveiwed J Mann and had said that their music, unlike Slipknot's, never sticks to one particular formula. They mix Pop in with rap with a creative twist of classical piano. I was blew away with a song called Fear Held Dear. It's like the piano was meant to be included in hard metal. Aside from that, I'm just saying how some of you "maggots" out there need to be a little more open-minded about other artist's music, especially if the oposing band has a few more years on them.

Thanks a lot of hearing me out and reply if you' like. I'd like to see this thread grow and get a real discusion going about this.

Disgruntled Intern 07-16-2002 11:15 PM

Either way, both bands suck.

And, there aren't too many metal fans here, let alone too many who even know what they're talking about. I doubt your topic will gain too much interest. It was a waste, really.

Armed Slig 07-16-2002 11:23 PM

Ouch. Thanks for the contructive critisism you arse.

Disgruntled Intern 07-16-2002 11:41 PM

Just trying to help you out.

If you wish for your stay to be pleasant, you may want to make sure your topics are...not catered to a select crowd.

And don't call me names. It's childish.

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 12:26 AM

What's really childish is posting comments which are just plain mean. So what if it was pointless and a complete waste of time. No need to bring me down about it. Sheesh.

Wrong! Mushroomhead did not come out before slipknot! Slipknot also came out in 95, Hello! Remember MFKR? Everyone knows Mushroomhead is a slipknot rip off. Mushroom head can never sound like Slipknot they just suck that much, so you are right Mushroomhead defiantly don't sound anything like the knot.

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 01:19 AM

Meet sheet! I've got two very popular and resourceful magazines sitting right infront of me saying that Mushroomhead came out before Slipknot. Mushroomhead has been out since 1993 and has patented the mask thing. Get your info straight.

Tthen why the hell did you say 95?

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 01:45 AM

Sorry. I'm going to have to classify that as a "whoops". :I

Edo 07-17-2002 02:25 AM

Just because we like off-topic stuff doesn't mean any of us are metal fans. Off-Topic, to me, means sno-cones, how much we hate McDonald's, and bisexual pride. You know, just regular kid stuff. If anyone cares whether or not the cranial fungus and the unsteady kink are one and the same, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 02:49 AM

Off-topic Discussion is for EVERYONE, including the whole two metal fans, Surfacing and I, I've seen on the forum so far. You've got your sno-cones, bisexual pride, and Invader Zim stuff, why can't their be music as well? :D

Edo 07-17-2002 03:11 AM

I'm just kidding. It just seemed like he was getting steamed up over it a lot.

Disgruntled Intern 07-17-2002 03:17 AM

I'm a metal fan too. There are many sub catagories in metal, though. These two bands belong in 'shit metal'. The one sub catagory I do not enjoy.

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 03:23 AM

So, you post dissing the two bands me and Surfacing like and yet you still didn't respond to the comment above.

And yet again. Another non-nessicary post from you, Disgruntled Intern. If you really don't have anything helpful to say, don't bother with the thread. I sure hope you have better things to do.

Opinions, opinsions.

Disgruntled Intern 07-17-2002 03:34 AM

If you only wish to participate with leon in this particular conversation, take it to PM's. And no, I don't have anything better to do.

Why should I have to say anything helpful in the first place? Everything you post will get feedback, good and bad. You've received the bad. Perhaps the good will come with another post.

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 04:10 AM

I pity the foo' who ain't got nothin' bettah to do than talk trash about metal bands. :D

Statikk HDM 07-17-2002 04:41 PM

I like mushroomhead better, personally, though in my opinion Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth rule them both.

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 05:11 PM

Unfortunatly Statikk, I've never actually heard anything from the three you mentioned, but have you ever heard of Rammstein?

Disgruntled Intern 07-17-2002 06:09 PM

*points at armed slig*

Statikk, what we have here, is a classic nu metal fan. They claim to be 'metal' fans, yet they know nothing of the classic founding fathers of metal. Sad, isn't it?

And Rammstein is industrial, not metal.

One, Two, Middlesboogie 07-17-2002 06:12 PM

Is Industrial not a sub-genre of metal? Or am I an ignorant twonk?

Disgruntled Intern 07-17-2002 06:27 PM

Yes, while it is a sub catagory, it's still not...eh, just plain metal.

Statikk HDM 07-17-2002 07:07 PM

Yes, it is tragic, Disgruntled Intern. I suppose they would be al confused if I said the best live metal albums are made by Exodus. Maybe the didn't even know of the prince of darkness before he got that show, on like, MTV and all!(last sentence partially spoken in a falsetto cheerleader voice.)

Armed Slig 07-17-2002 07:22 PM

I don't bother with the Gods of metal. I've heard some of those kinds of bands and I don't like their music. That doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. You got your shit, I got mine. Get over it.

Disgruntled Intern 07-17-2002 08:58 PM

:

Get over it.
I certainly hope you were talking to yourself, when you typed that. This whole time, it's been you kicking up such a stink over everything...I've simply offered my opinions.

I know exactly what you mean, they have no ideas were metal has come from, they’re just the new generation for metal fans (Which is sad because they don't know there roots) It's bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and Rammestein are to blame. Sadly there is nothing true metal fans can do about it, media seems to love these bands and there just going to get bigger to the younger generation.

SeaRex 07-18-2002 03:10 PM

I like Mushroomhead and Slipknot's headgear. That's about where my enjoyment of these two bands end, but at least they look good while being crappy. :D

Yeah, this post has no point, but I felt an need to say it.

I agree with dark_xinos, I don't like metal much, but why making each other angry by calling the other names, just because they have different opinions!?

Disgruntled Intern 07-19-2002 07:19 PM

I'm not angry.

quetzalcoatl 07-20-2002 01:15 PM

ok, sorry for that.
