Longest time without sleep???

Well, what's your longest time without sleep, and why???

Well I think mine is 30+ hours. I know I was up most of one day, and just when I was feeling tired, I went out to the Royal Melbourne Show, and didn't get home untill 11pm. So it was between 30-37 hours up straight. I can't really remember, but I know it was more than 30 hours.

Disgruntled Intern 07-13-2002 04:56 PM

5 days.
It was honestly one of the worst experiences I ever had to endure...damn bastards, exploiting my insomnia...

One, Two, Middlesboogie 07-13-2002 04:57 PM

The world record is 15 days. I've never gone without sleep for more than 15 hours. The longest times I've spent awake have been on school trips.

I was a part of a sleep study...or rather, a non sleep study. I was paid quite well, but I still regret agreeing to it.

On my way to California. I got up at about 6am to leave to the airport and I arrived in California at about 9pm.
(21 + 8) - 6 = 23
In fact, it could easily have been 24 hours...

How the hell did you spend 5 days without sleeping? I assume you were provided with free coffee and Coke.

Disgruntled Intern 07-13-2002 05:36 PM

No, I wasn't provided with any stimulants, actually. Others were, but because back then my insomnia was much more severe, I didn't really need any. I probably would have nodded off during the third day, had it not been for all the wires and the uncomfortable bed. They simulated day and night cycles, and we were encouraged to go about doing 'normal' things during the day, and then attempt to sleep whenever we felt we could. It really wasn't even five full days. I passed out like 5 minutes into the fifth.
My doctor is also convinced that the migraines I sometimes suffer are a result of my ongoing lack of sleep over the years. I refuse to take medications, because I do not want to become dependent on them to sleep.
I do however, have to inject myself at times, for the migraines.

*thinks*I was in a military excerise one time where I worked the night shift...(we did everything...even go out into the 'field' to simulate a deployment). The exercise ended on Saturday morning...and I got to go home that Sat. I was up all Friday and when i went home I proceeded to go about my daily Saturday route. So all in all...I think I was up for at least 30 hours.

Well, atleast you're honest about not having a life.

I believe I've gone somewherearound 35-48 hours or so... *Thinks* I was about 9, I woke up at about 8 one morning, spent the night at a friends house, and went to bed alte the next night, I believe I went to bed around 3-6 am sometime the next day. I may have beaten that around sometime when I was also 9, when my brother and I basicly held up in his room with teh playstation with some food and stuff for almost 2 days. I tend to not remember the times that I pass out 4 years ago. Nowdays its not uncommon to stay up a day or almost a day, it helps naturaly I've completely messed up my sleeping times. I tend to not like sleep. Waste of time in my opinion. Thats why I just prefer to pass out and sleep however long I feel like it (about 9-12 hours during the summertime now).

ODDBODD 07-14-2002 12:49 PM

3 days, me and my freinds family went out together and we stayed at a hotel, we had our own room and we just stayed up all night talking and playing playstation. Then we decided to sneak out and see the city. We got back and decided to go to slepp but 5 minutes later we were playing playstation

Joe the Intern 07-14-2002 08:07 PM

The longest I've ever gone without sleep is 24 hours. I'm trying to stay up a lot so I can sleep a long time to get my sleeping pattern back on schedule, if that makes sense.

Majic 07-15-2002 02:08 AM

Sligster... Your like 10, I really don't think you stayed up a week. Plus caffein couldn't keep you up that long on itself...

Disgruntled Intern 07-15-2002 02:50 AM

Yeah, there's no way you stayed up for a week.

Stop trying to impress us, loser.

At the Grade 5 camp I was awake for about 2 days because there was no water to drink and I couldn't get to sleep there either. I really hated that camp.

paramiteabe 07-15-2002 05:59 PM
