A Slig Theory
 

Lets start at here. Sligs. They have a queen. And that means it is the only female. She has no mask, and you can see here eyes.
I think that this is a intresting theory:

That sligs, really cant see. They are drones that use the "antenneas" to find food, for the queen wich produses more sligs. There is only one queen, at the time per "hive". The Slig's sences are at top, so they dont need eyes. Becuas they live underground. So they have lived this way for vey long time, as inosent creatures, crawing around in the deep earth of Oddworld.
As I see it, they are like ants.

Then, Vykkers, found them.
They added the Mask, as an experiment, and elecro nuero patch cords into there brains and to artifitial eyes.
Then after that, legs. And the abilety to speak. (that is why they have such makanicle voice) So the Vykkers have now a creature with implants. And then they make a deal with the Glukkons, who are in nead of good security for there facileties. That is how the Glukkons and Vykkers started to do deals and work with each other sometimes.

It's just a theory, and not a fact. I just thought it sounded realistic, (for Oddworld) and a kind of thing that is like to happen on Oddworld.

good theory dark_xinos.but i think sligs have masks because there ugly heads scare the employees as well as there employers(glukks).and the glukkons made a deal with the slig queen-they give her lots of moolah and she gives them security.glukks asked vykkers to make machanical pants for sligs.(i also think that sligs can talk without voiceboxes)
but i could be wrong to!!

Actually Sligs can see without there masks, just not very well. Seince a Sligs eyes are small and beedy it means that they cannot make out color well or determin distance that greatly either.

My theory: it's only esthetic but maybe a bit for vision (but not that much)

Interesting theory. Although I don't think it could be correct, I like some of your ideas. I think that you are right in thinking that the "alliance" of the Vykkers Conglomerate and the Magog Cartel is due to the vykkers offering advances in security in exchange for something. Maybe slaves or free food?

well maybe some wildlife creatures for sadist testing, but Vykkers have there own équipement to catch creatures.

I think that sligs can see and there masks are only there for protection from gas other things like that!

Mabye one of the things that the Magog trades to the Vykkers Conglomerate is publicity and advratising? I mean on the OWI site it says that knowone on Oddworld really likes the Vykkers, except for themselves?
