A question and a suggestion.

Does your post count go down when you delete a post? Also, your post count should go up (if it doesn't already) when you PM people.

Sl'askia 07-05-2002 10:14 PM

No your post count doesn't go down if you delete a post. And no PM's shouldn't count on your post count...its an almost totally different thing from the forums. Besides...how many posts you have shouldn't matter.

General Drippik 07-05-2002 10:34 PM

S'pose you're right about the Pm, postcount thing.

Sydney 07-06-2002 12:28 AM

She's right about everything.

Plus, I don't like the idea of members deleting their own posts. I think I'll change it. *hovers over to the administrator's control panel*

P.S. General Drippik, your signature is an eyesore.

General Drippik 07-06-2002 12:31 AM

Are you asking me to change it?

Sydney 07-06-2002 12:35 AM

No, I was just telling you that it's ugly and if you have any taste you'll change it by your own accord.

Sl'askia 07-06-2002 12:56 AM

*blush* aww shucks Syd...I didn't mean ta sound like a know-it-all :D

Spider: EGO ALERT EGO ALERT!

Oh hush you! *baps Spider on the head*

Spider: *whimper* Yes mam...

General Drippik 07-06-2002 01:10 AM

Can you close this topic Syd? It has no point anymore.

Cloverfield 07-06-2002 03:03 AM

I honestly didn't think that we allowed members to delete their own posts ... but perhaps it was a setting that we had failed to set. Thanks for picking that up Sydney.

Abe Babe...

ODDBODD 07-06-2002 05:33 AM

omygod i have 1800 posts, only now did i realise.

Wil 07-06-2002 06:59 AM

This is a discussion forum, not a chatroom, we should be able to delete posts if we feel we made a mistake in posting them. What if I realised I had posted something that might deeply offend Member X, but without my rant the post wouldn't contain any significant content? Or if I accidently made a double post, what good is simply editing one to read: 'Oops, double post. Sorry!'?

And my sig isn't all too different from General Drippik's, is it too ugly?

Just edit it. Your point, rather than working for your argument, just reinforces the notion that members should THINK before posting. Plus, some people might try to cover up their behaviour by deleting entire topics that they started, and can't be punished because the evidence has vanished.

A Moderator can come along and delete the extra post, because that's what they're there for.

Yes.

Wil 07-06-2002 07:31 AM

:

Yes.
Right, okay, I'll see what I can do about it.

As for the on-topic discussion, I still don't think we should be prevented from deleting our own posts. But you are the Big Cheese here, I don't have the final say.

Sydney 07-06-2002 07:35 AM

I'm willing to listen to your arguments, and I responded to each of your points. If you aren't satisfied with my answers, don't hesitate to address them further.

Dark Mage 07-06-2002 09:31 AM

Actually it does. I deleted some of my topics that I'd rather forget about (not because I was being naughty in them, but because they were old picture topics of mine, and I didn't like having my cringe-makingly rubbish pics of old up there for all the world to see), and my post count went down.

And I do think we should be allowed to delete our own posts. Nobody else loses out, and if we want to get rid of our posts, removing them altogether keeps the forums a lot cleaner than having a string of posts all with the message 'Edit: Deleted'.

And people 'deleting evidence' is fine, in my opinion, because the offending material is no longer there being an eyesore.

Yes, but they take their sweet time about it. I've seen spam topcis stay in place for several days before anybody does anything about them.

Please don't take this ability away from us.

dark_xinos 07-06-2002 09:52 AM

Sydney! You wouldent dare remove the delete post option!

I need it sometimes. If I post and forgett to attach a file, I need to start over, sence you cant attach to a edit.

Sl'askia 07-06-2002 11:54 AM

It does Anna? It never went down with me....odd...merk.
