Sligs, are they only industrial guards?
Ok i know i should have told you this earlier but im a big slig fan so i have alot of questions.
First off i like the industrial sligs a whole lot but what im going to concentrate on here is the natural life of a native slig. so here we go: could this be possible. is it possible that some where out there could be a tribe of sligs wild ones. i know that skillya porduces sligs for the glukkons but is it possible that a race of wild slig exist. what i would want to know is your theories on if this is possible and if so what would it be like to be a wild slig could they be religious , what would be there natural enemies , how do they exsist. if you ask me *sligs look alot like a hermit crab out of a shell * is it possible that they might were a shell could they be tree develers? I would really like to know.:fuzsmile: next i heard from this on site that sligs were the maskes because the managers just cant stand to look at them. is this true or does the mask act as a sort of survalence mechanism like a high tech computer that identifies creatures or acts as a sort of night vision or heat sensor or motion sensor.? I appreciate anyones efforts to answer these questions, i would like to hear your oppinions. Becasue SLIGS RULE!!!:fuzgrin: :D |
Well, no Sligs aren't only security guards. They are also annoying game show hosts, slave traders, and Glukkon Valets (this was all done by Lulus valet.). You are right about the mask thing, Glukkons (and whoever else employes them.) find Sligs so hideous that they had the Vykkers custom make masks just for the Sligs as well as thier pants. After awhile the Glukkons realised that they could make a Slig more efficient just my improving apon thier masks, hence the Eye Stich 2000 that we see in AE. Next, it is defenatly possable that there are wild Sligs on other continents, after all Im sure Skilla isn't the only Slig Queen on all of Oddworld. But it is because of Skilla, that all of Mudos' Sligs are extreemly disfounctional. The only company a Slig seems to like is another Slig. They can be found playing cards together, having spiting contests, swaping Mudokon beating methods, or just talking. If there are wild Sligs out there I'd say that they would have a pretty simple religion, and that they may be tree dwellers although I highly doubt it, I would think that they live on the forest floors and in Oddworlds swamps. Sligs would not have any type of hermit crab shell, unless they hunted down other animals with shells then wore them as a sign of dominance and protection.:fuzsmile:

Yes, there are wild tribes of sligs and the masks are for breathing, as well as ugliness.

I agree with the fact that sligs live on the forest floors or in swamps that makes alot of sense and i do believe that there are more then one slig Quenn. I do believe like with most intellegent creatures sligs have a small religion.the eye stich 2000 i never heard of but i know what your talking about this pic is of a flying slig that is wearing the eye stich 2000 lets scratch out the shell idea now that i see that is highly unlikely. so heres my next question what type of ranks would exist in a tribe of wild sligs and what physical signs would they have to show this?:fuzconf: thank you alot sligster and Oddsville for answering the prior questions.:) |
ummm... Oddsville, sorry to point out an error but Eyestitch 2000 was the device developed to sew up mudokon mine workers's eyes. It has nothing to do with the change in slig masks.
The in-game reason the mask were changed was because sligs eyes are on the sides of their head and the old visors made them cross eyed (seriously). The real-world reason was so that they could express more emotion. If there are wild sligs, which is possible since Oddworld is a big place, I don't think they would waste time with any religion. Originally I pictured them as tree dwellers but I like Kaimana's idea better. They live in swamps and maybe they use the shells of dead creatures for their own. It is an interesting new idea (we need more of those), I will have to think about it more. And yes, the real reason sligs wear masks is because they are ugly. Which is odd because the pictures of maskless sligs make them look sort of cute... sort of. It makes you wonder what glukkons consider attractive. But just because that is the main reason, I also think that the masks serve other purposes that we don't know about. |
Well thank you very muck Khanz for considering my shell theory. so with the respect of the Khanzumers backup i ask this. I herby believe that sligs since they resemble a hermit crab so much live in swamps and may use the shells of dead creatures to defend there defensless body. To me this makes alot of sense. one other similarity hermit crabs like the company of there own kind and feel protected that way isnt that the same as Sligs. oh and Khanzumer is it possible that you could find that pic of a unmasked slig you were talking about i would really like to see that.:)

Anyway, If sligs did live in the wild I think that they would have a much nicer demeanor than the industrialist sligs because they haven't been exposed to mentally degenerating things like alcohol or nicotine yet. Considering that Sligs are highly social animals they might even live in co-operation with certain other species. (Mudokons, Scrabs, etc.) |

Uh...sorry...one of my slig characters. *mutters something about him only appearing lately when his species living style is at stake* I personally believe native sligs live in the trees, living in tribes much like the mudokons. They wear masks because the gluks think they are ugly (I don't think they serve any other function...as if they enhanced sight in anyway they would have been able to spot Abe in the shados in AO and AE). The wiring you see coming from the masks and attaching to the pants I think serve to keep the sligs from falling flat on their faces. (come on now...sligs are top heavy...they wouldn't be able to stay in those pants without something to hold them up) The masks as breathing things? *shakes head* doesn't seem right to me. If that were so the gluks would had had to provide them with them from the start...and if I know gluks right they would be very hesitent at best to shell out a bunch of moola to have the Vykks make those breathing things so the sligs could work on dry land... Just my 2 cents... |
Are you sure Khanzumer? Because in the advratisment for the Eye stich 2000 it said something like.... "Now you can see your employes in the dark with the new Eye stich 2000!"?

Well with that much said heres the Delema. we are aware that sligs wear masks necause there managers cant stand to look at them (probably because they look to inosent) so now the question is . Is it true that sligs also were there masks because they can not breath the air (or whatever) so if thats true that would mean that the swamp would be a natives only home because that all it can breath? I'm sorry to say this but I wouldn't ask Sligster anything. I think the majority of his "slig knowledge" is just stuff he made up.
But just because he makes stuff up dosn't mean those are bad theories. He has some great ideas. He just needs to do a better job of saying what is official and what is something he made up. |

I understand what you mean Xavier. Official stuff are very important to understand the truth of oddworld. but that does not mean all theories are wrong some if thought about very carefully by looking at the evidence and then using logic could be right. i make theories because its good to get myself and others thinking. and theories are what makes the forums exsiting. everyone has something to talk about. as for me i make theories because its exsiting to wonder.
Dont get me wrong though official things are what sparks theory so nothing is wrong with official knoweledge because that how i make my theories.:fuzsmile: |
