Harry Potter

Whos saw the movie and whos gonna see the next one? This is for Harry Potter fans! Also you can post a made-up Hogworts letter here!

This should be in OT. *moves it*

EDIT: As for what I think, I preferred the books. I was rather disappointed with the film; too many bits altered/left out. LoTR is much more worth seeing.

The thing that got me into the books was the first movie. I saw it because everyone seemed to like the books (except the Fundies). After I watched the film, I read all the books. The books are almost infinately better than the film.
They cut some great things out of the first movie (Snape's puzzle). I'd hate to see how much they'd have to cut from the fourth movie to make it a PG (which it logically must be as lots of kids enjoy the series). Let's hope the BBFC loosen-up before the fourth movie's out...

True to what everyone has said, the books are better then the film, but that doesn't stop the film being great, though. :)

Speaking of movies. I've heard that the Two Towrs is out in the cinemas in the U.S!:flames:

Is this true!?

Yeah, the books (HP) are suerly going to be better than there movies. Though there are some things I really wanna se!
Like when Malfoy gets turned into...(cant remember) but a little furry animal. And when Hermony gets huge teath, he he. Not that I disslike any of the "Good guys" in the books, just so happens I thought that would be amusing.

Well not yet, but pretty soon it'll be.

SOON as in Christmas? Or soon as in weeks?

Xinos, I believe it's coming to theaters around Christmas time here.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't really like Harry Potter all that much. I've read the first book, and most of the second one... and I thought they were just okay. The writing style wasn't very atmospheric, and it seemed like it had children's book writing style. (not that they are children's books.. I know many adults who like them too.) The plot was alright, I suppose... But not my type, I guess. They were mildly amusing, I guess... but not very entertaining to me. I dunno. I didn't finish the second one, because it didn't really improve upon the first one... The movie was just as mediocre, too... I just don't see why every one loves the books so much.* :|

(*except for the extremely religious who think it's evil... I just thought that was ridiculous. :S)

I'll have to agree with Melvin. I read a lot of the first book and just thought it was really overrated.

Disgruntled Intern 07-03-2002 02:16 AM

Like I told Dyl on msn, I think there should have been more violence. I guess I should elaborate on that...

Like people botching spells, and maiming themselves with a rogue fire ball, etc. And I think there should have been murder, or more of it. Murder interests me.

abe22 07-03-2002 06:38 AM

I don't like Harry Potter. I read most of the first book because people said it was 'so great,' but I didn't like it. I found that it was boring and it just seemed to drag on and on and on. I also didn't like the movie, didn't interest me. The movie should of had a more eerie feel and with more violence, or bits that make you jump...that would of made it cool.

Majic 07-03-2002 06:44 AM

Wild Dave, wild;)

I like the books actualy, but the movie, that was ok, but as a movie it was kinda dumb. My parents had never read the books, and they saw the movie, and my dad just said (good special effects:| My mom fell asleep. The 4th book turning into a movie, that would be a treat. My guess: 3 1/2-4 hours:)

General Drippik 07-03-2002 06:48 AM

Harry potter is okay, but you get sick of the gay merchandise.

Her whrighting gets improved by everybook. First one was ok. But the books after that got better and better. The fourth one is great!

Edit: Yay, for Mad Eye Moody!½

abe22 07-03-2002 10:07 AM

I don't think writing improves book by book. The first book is always meant to be the best. So, Can you say that about movies though, Xinos?

dark_xinos 07-03-2002 04:20 PM

Depends who makes the movies.
No matter wich book is suposed to be the bes. Here whriting abilety gets more improved for each book, Abe22.

Statikk HDM 07-03-2002 07:08 PM

Well, I liked the books, but not at the pace they've been printed at! Man, when is the next one going to printed! If you think I'm loquacious, I got nothing on Rowling! The 4th book was what, a hair over 700 pages long? Its rumored that the next one will be such a tome that it will be printed as one story, but in two books!
How am I going to get that out of the library or bookstore! I would need a pickup with a large bed or a friggin' forklift. I'm sorry, but at the rate the books are ballooning the last one will be as big as a dog kennel, in three or more installments, and well over a thousand pages long!:(

quetzalcoatl 07-04-2002 02:36 PM

:fuzemb: The movie is really bad. But the books are ok.
The magic spells in the movie are not very well made. As fore the end scene. :fuzemb:
