To Max

What do you know about Chroniclers? You mentioned them in another topic, and it seemed like you knew more about them than I did [all I know is what they look like]...

Wil 12-12-2001 05:12 PM

Hi Rettick.

You've seen a Chronicler, that's a good start. Well, basicaly, they're the accountants, stock brokers, lawyers and thieves of Oddworld, or Mudos at least. They form the Odd equivalent of our sharp-suited Moolah-loving bank managers. Ever seen that episode of Blackadder II when the Bishop of Bath and Wells threatens to burn Edmund's bottom off? That's how much Chroniclers want debts payed off.

Lady Margaret's really in for it. With the loss of her most profitable franchise (RuptureFarms) and her Prodigl Glukkon Son, she's got a lot of money to pay up - all that material and work-force ain't free, ya know. And while other Glukkons would love to get a-hold of a giant meat-processing plant, that Man-in-Black-esque visit from Mr Pink Socks really does put a damp spell over the otherwise-promising concept.

And that's why the Chroniclers are after Maggie's Moolah. That's where Lulu steps in, to take over RuptureFarms and work it into a profitable business, under the control of Abe and Munch of course. Or at least, that's how the story went before OWI made all the cuts.

There you go. That should be more than enough to satisfy you - hope I've been a help.

The always pleased-to-help,
Max Muggledarner

Thank'ee, Max! That's cleared it up for me! Just one more question: what the hell is it that he's carrying?

Oddsville 12-13-2001 07:19 PM

You know, its carrying one of those...things. I forgot what you call it but its a kind of "old fashoned calculator"; the Romen's used it. Its works with little gems that can go left or right on alittle bar and each different kinda gem represended a different number.

Edit: Now that I look at it I could be wrong, but Im pretty sure that thats what it is.

They're called Abacuses [or maybe Abaci]. That doesn't really look like one, although it could be a really Odd one...

Xavier 12-14-2001 01:48 PM

It's a Parathunder, so the thunder come on him when the is bad wheater

Wil 12-14-2001 04:47 PM

I'd always thought of it as being just a cane or staff, but it being an Odd abacus would be excellent.

I really do doubt it's a lightening conducter, or 'parathunder'. That's a nice word, parathunder. Why haven't I been informed of its existence earlier?

Xavier 12-14-2001 05:15 PM

I said parathunder because I don't know the real name., I dunno what that is... I was just kidding

Eibu 12-14-2001 06:21 PM

how about "lightning rod" or "conducter"?

anyway that's the first thing that came to my head when I saw the chronicler in a Playstation magazine oh so many eons ago. When I heard he was like an accountant I thought it looked like an Abbaccus (sp?).

Xavier 12-14-2001 06:36 PM

A abacus is very possible and the most logical... can someone confirm this théory ?

•[cyrus]• 12-14-2001 07:21 PM

I've never seen him in Oddworld????? Cronicler? What the

Mudokon101......

Xavier 12-14-2001 07:37 PM

Chroniclers are only sketches, and no more, we know nothing about them, we just know they exists

•[cyrus]• 12-14-2001 07:40 PM

They were probably failed sketches of Inturns ; look at a Cronicler and look at an Inturn ; They were probably going to be Inturns but a lot SMARTER

Xavier 12-14-2001 07:48 PM

Interns... you should got glasses, they are totally different!

other colors, other members and other clothes

•[cyrus]• 12-14-2001 07:50 PM

I SAID FAILED VERSIONS of Inturns , all character designs come out WAY different from finall designs!!!!

Of course they are both totally different>>>>>>

Danny 12-14-2001 08:15 PM

Ah, I see. So Gabbits were originally failed Mudokons, were they? And Glukkons were originally failed Fleeches, hmm?

Xavier 12-15-2001 08:17 AM

hahaha retric...

I think we go to see the chronicler later, when the heros will go in the big city's of Oddworld!
