Do you lie about your gender online?

It's very easy to disguise who you are online (hell, I'm actually a team of trained baboons, but all my online friends think we're a teenage girl... muah-ha-ha-ha-ha.... D'oh!). So, who's done it?

moy85 05-23-2002 09:06 AM

never i don't see the point really stupid

pinkgoth2 05-23-2002 10:04 AM

I have to agree with moy85. There's no real POINT to it... well, if you ignore the fact girls get a lot of perverts IMing them in places such as Yahoo!.

I'm a she. No, really. *laughs* I tried for a while to pass as a guy on another network (just for the hell of it), which didn't work, but rubbed off on me (apparently, it's how I act now).

Anyway, I still have quite a few male characters, though I don't think that quite counts.

Does it?

Urrh, hope not... If you had to use your characters to determine what you look like online I'd probably be a grumpy sixty year old bloke... *wonders about her mindset, and why she has so many old characters...*

I am, most definitely, a 20 year old female, before anyone asks. ;) The name throws most people...

Jacob 05-23-2002 10:53 AM

I have lied about my gender a couple of times...its mainly for a cheap thrill. Straight guys are so stupid, you put a picture of a naked teen girl on ur profile and they automaticly think ur a lass...then they put their webcam on and show you a mass of flab and man breasts...before asking 'You like?' Viiiiiiile!!

Gluk Schmuck 05-23-2002 11:06 AM

My Habbo at Habbo Hotel is a pretty brown woman with lovely clothes. I'm a white boy, in case you didn't know.

I like being a girl, it's fun.

Jacob 05-23-2002 03:10 PM

I'm Catrina, tall...blonde (Prefarably) and goooorg!!

dark_xinos 05-23-2002 03:42 PM

Whatever i tell you, why should you belive me. I might lie and say never, cuas im a girl in descise her at the forums. Not that I am... but can you truly belive me? If I was doing it. Why would i turn myself in. Or im telling the truth................................................................

Im a guy.

Xavier 05-23-2002 03:55 PM

I never lie about my gender

Sl'askia 05-23-2002 04:12 PM

No I never lie about my gender. I tend to be myself, even when I am obviously RPing on any forum other then the RPG forum (yes...I do act silly in RL at times...though I tend to be a lot more reserved).
My screen name does throw peeps off...I am a 24 year-old female...not a male.

munchman 05-23-2002 06:07 PM

i never lie about stuff, , i think it is stupid to fake your own gender, only if you need to

Danny 05-23-2002 07:27 PM

I could never be bothered. However, my friends Travis, Sim, and Gordo have concocted an elaborate online entity called Lisa, for the sole purpose of causing a very sad and annoying boy (whom we shall call Mr. A, to protect his identity) misery...

Basically, they get him to "cyber" with them, on MSN, and save the conversation. In the meantime, they've convinced him that "Lisa" (whom he has never met) is in love with him. He has already bought "Lisa" 3 CDs (to be given to her by Travis, as "she doesn't want to give him her address until she is committed), and they are currently setting him a series of three Tasks that he must complete to show his love for her... (I remind you that he has never met this girl in the flesh, and yet claims to love her)

If I could be bothered, I would attempt a similar scam, as it seems both Fun and Profitable... Sadly, it all seems very complicated - they've even made "Lisa" her own MSN account, her own Faceparty account, and found a series of photos that are claimed to be of her...

Thats so cruel, devious and down right wrong...ohhh, how i am seething with jealousy!!

Tex 05-23-2002 07:47 PM

Nope, can't say that I ever have lied about my gender....But age? Now that's a totally different story :fuzwink:

RE: Dan
LOL! :D Good one!

Anyway, I never lie about my Gender. However, I once fooled someone in Oddchat by pretending to be Blue (one of my characters - She plays my main character in the RPG, and as the Womans champion on WWF Smackdown: Just Bring it). They thought she was real! :D And to proove that she was a seperate person from me, I had two Oddchat windows open! :D I was playing Dark Hood in one, and Blue in the other. :) Although I got found out when someone else prooved that me and Blue had both the same IP address, it was still very funny. :D

No, I don't lie about my gender ever. But it was pretty amusing when a certain someone *looks at him/her* on the forums thought I was a boy.....I'll never know why.....perhaps it's my username...;) *chuckles* Still amusing though.

Although not to say, that lying about my gender hasn't crossed my mind*shrugs* Just never been bothered really to fake my gender.....:D

But I'm a female just incase my username makes peeps think I'm actually male......;)

I've been mistaken for a male at least four times on the internet. 2 people on the PS2 Hardcore boards thought I was a boy (my screen name there is 'Pyro Annarchy', which is fairly masculine). I used to get mistaken for a male with my 'Twisted Firestarter' name as well; that's pretty masculine.

There's a Stephen King novel/movie called "Firestarter."

An 8 or 10-year old Drew Barrymore was the title character in the movie, so that one definitely strikes me as feminine.

Anything beginning with "Pyro", though, I would think masculine.

Silversnow 05-26-2002 12:29 AM

Some guys on a swedish "meet-people" site for teenagers thinks my name is Simon, I'm a 19 years old who lives here in my little town. And it's SO much fun! If I told the thruth, all those (un)attractive guys wouldn't have taken contact! I can do whatever I want to!!! Mwuahahaha!

Anyway, here I speak the truth...

Al the Vykker 05-27-2002 01:24 PM

I have never lied about my gender I'm a Male. At the age of fourteen its pretty hard to fake your gender, for me it just be too weird. I would never be able to get it played perfectly, so it would never happen.

Paramiteabe aside, what would be the purpose of lying about your age on the internet?
