A different look for Glukkons ?
In " Oddworld : Abe's Odissey " game's ending , afther the cg movie, there are credits ... while credis are scrolling some sketches of the game are shown ... for me the most interesting picture was one of the first Glukkons concept art.
Originally the Gluks had some strange robes to cover their body in someways reminding the Dune movie Harkonnen's Baron vest or some reinascimental bishops ... i think it was a scarier and more intresting way to show Gluks than the final one shown in the games. I think that in Oddworld design one of the most fascinating thing is the lack of human presence or visive referiments to human race so i was just a little disappointed to see Gluckstar dressed as an oil-empire howner :fuzsad: A more strange and bizarre look for Glukkons is finally what i request ........ what do u think about fellows ? Thanks Ciao ( p.s. to Xavier as u can see i've banned caps lock to my keyboard hehe :D ) |
yes... good :D
hmmm do you mean this picture ? http://www.oddworld.com/universe/ind...prod_right.jpg |
Interesting picture indded !!!
Thanx Xavier u surely caught the sense of my posting and the picture u showed me is amazing ... but i saw another picture in the credids I suggest u check it out in the game's ending cause i think u are interested to game's concept art :)
But i still wander if u agree or not with me on Glukkon's look ....let me know you opinion A presto ( see u soon ) |
Yes, that's an early design for Molluck. I prefer the sharp suits to the robes because it makes them more human, or rather adds to their merciless appearance. Robes would make them seem in some way spiritual.
'Oil-empire owner'. I like that term, it's good. Glukkons are big followers of interior decorating and textile fashion. If they're not wearing the best they can afford, they're not sane. And for rich Glockstars, that means sequinned and polishes suits, giant cigars, dark glasses and a Texan hat the size of...well, Texas. And Glukkons are quick to criticise other Gluks' sense of style. Like Tex about Lulu in Munch's Oddysee: "Huh, he should learn how to dress!"Tex thinking purple is the most hideous colour there is is absolutely brilliant. |
I also like the way glukkons dress. It makes them look more business-like and the robes would have made them look to spiritual.
Speaking of Tex, I wonder why the official website dosn't have any information about him. He seems like a character that easily could have an interesting backstory. Who's backs did he step on to achieve the status of Glockstar? Perhaps is the founder of all the Rupture Farms meat plants or something. |
I seem to get the impression that Tex is indeed an oil baron of some kind. I guess that's just because of his strong American accent, and the name "Tex" is kind of symonomus with such. Maybe he is the owner of Flub Fuels ... as you do not actually see the owner of Flub Fuels... only the junior executives.

I generaly like the way gluk's dress all buisnes like n'stuf.
But i think glokstar dress is just a tad over the top. All that giltter makes em look too happy and dopy and genaraly unscary.:fuzzle: |
I saw intresting pictures of Tex on The Oddworld Wall (some foto's finded on the internet)
I wonder why we don't have more info about him... I actualy love the glukkon looks they are so serious. |
WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Xavier, where did you gt that picture from? Thank god the designers made them look like they do now!!!!!!!
P.S never show that picture again:flames: :flames: :flames: |
well... on the official site

I also love the way Glukkons dress as oppossed to the older versions. I remember the first time I saw Mullock I thought he was some kind of muscular, macho man but then in the end I saw his real body tone and I thought it was hilarious. Thats what I love about Oddworld everything is so uniuqe and always manages to suprise you.

I think that the way glukkons dress :fuzcool: is perfect! :D

there were lots of studies for the dress.
there is even a statue of only the dress. here a picture Pilot take http://www.oddworld.au.com/necrum-mi...es/pilot02.jpg under the paramite |
Dude was that picture taken at OWI itself? It looks like a lobby of some type to an office building. If thats OWI I want to go there and visit. Anyway I like the way glukkens look now. But I like how they looked in AO and AE too. The concept of the glukken was extrordinarly good. Since I am studying to become a concept artist myself, you will be surprise to see just how many different designs go into one character. There are probally hundreds of designes that went into Molluck. Each one reviewed by Lanning until just the right design comes into his office and he says this is it. This is what I want. I like this concept. And then they go with that design. That is why you have a team of artists to draw the right picture for the game or movie. Several minds are better than one. But it is one vision that ultimately gets picked. But all the designes are pretty cool because it opens up your imagination.:fuzblink:

uhm...
in fact the pictures is took by Pilot... not by OWI themself. I said it above the photo. And yeah there are lots of concepts of Molluc, nice guy that glukkon |
