Faggot

I came across the word " Faggot" in the dictionary it says:

Faggot: " A faggot is a ball of chopped meat, bread, and herbs".

The second one said:

Faggot: " A faggot is also a bundle of sticks for firewood".

Ha anybody used the term "Faggot" For these expressons? Or has anybody heard someone use the term faggot for the expressions above?

Wolfpac 05-17-2002 07:21 AM

I must say that I've used the wood one before

Gluk Schmuck 05-17-2002 08:13 AM

I don't use the word unless I'm trying to make fun of bigots.

I've used the word when talking about a bundle of meat-sticks. For shock value, of course.

"Oh look, a faggot," he said, pointing to the juicy bundle of sausages, bound with wax thread.

My grandfather used to use the word "FAG" when playing Scrabble. Apparently it is a slang term for a cigarette.

Statikk HDM 05-17-2002 07:36 PM

i thought a faggot was a punk.
Aren't they synonymous?

The Shrink 05-17-2002 11:22 PM

The word fag is slang for a cigarette here in Australia, though it's a little less common to use it nowadays. It comes from faggot in the sense that it is a burning stick and a faggot is abunch of burning sticks.
Here in Australia, faggot is also used as a synonym for the word homosexual. It is not uncommon to refer to a gay man as a faggot or as a fag for short.
I've never heard the meat one before.

Faggot is not synonymous with homosexual; it's offensive slang, not unlike one would say nigger when referring to a black person. It's uncommon for people to use the word fag or faggot, or at least among my associations.

Fag is almost exclusively used to mean Cigarette here in England (it's very common), except among Preteen Townie Arseholes, who use it to mean Homosexual.

Jacob 05-19-2002 06:06 PM

Townies...heh, heh, heh...they found out how much people hated them before the end of skool...ENTERTAINMENT!!

Majic 05-19-2002 06:13 PM

At my school, fag/faggot is used as a term much like bastard, etc... Strage though, one time someone called me a gay fag. So whats a gay homosexual? Very thought provoking, morons using words as insults that aren't exactly insults...

Teal 05-20-2002 08:04 AM

I've seen "faggots" on sale in supermarkets before now, in the freezer section...

Doug 05-20-2002 12:23 PM

I'm curious as to what Danny and Chris mean by the term "townie".

In the US, that term would be used by someone boarding away from home at a prep school/college/university to refer to the local residents. Although similarly derogatory, I get the sense that you are using it to mean something different.

Jacob 05-20-2002 04:31 PM

Townies are wannabe-Nogs. They think they are hard and at least 3% of them are closet gays. Sadly they try and repress that more by using slang words for homosexual and basically picking on the 'Gays'. I was ok when i was at skool, the nogs defended me cos i cud make them laff...but Townies are arseholes who smoke and do drugs and think it makes them rrrrreally hard. They also smell...and are ugly...*Shudders* Thats what they are like from were i come from...Danny's versions drink Cider.

Doug 05-20-2002 06:54 PM

Does the "town" part of "townie" refer to anything?

Now, what's a "nog"?

Statikk HDM 05-20-2002 09:21 PM

Good God, british people actually talk like this? You mean being called a nog is offensive? What kind of quaint funny teethed shit is that?

Danny 05-20-2002 09:53 PM

Okay, Chris's description was more or less entirely misleading, so I'll make an attempt to describe Townies.

Townies are basically Trendies. They like whatever's fashionable at the moment, the blokes are generally into sport, the girls are into skimpy clothing, they wear only designer clothes (or other clothes that are fashionable, like Slipknot hoodies and things), they're rude and aggressive, and they're not very intelligent... The younger ones (around 12-14) spend much of their time hanging out on the streets, drinking Cider and Vodka because they're too young to get in anywhere, and they just want to get pissed as quickly as possible... The older ones prefer clubbing, and their drug of choice is ecstasy. All age groups think very highly of themselves...

They are the scum of the earth.

Majic 05-20-2002 09:59 PM

Sounds like the "cool" kids, or the "in crowd" around where I am. Minus the cider/vodka. But now since (luckily) everyone in my classes are going whacko, trying to kill themselves and having make out parties and such, everyones getting pissed at them. Now they just go around and talk to everyone and dont act as stuck up... I laugh at the whole stupidity. Although you know Danny, the people that Chris described might be what townies are called where he lives... But anyway, sounds like the townies form the sims, idiots who only serve to crap stuff up.

Danny 05-20-2002 10:11 PM

Oh, and I forgot to mention: They're called Townies because they spend most of their time (in their early teen years at least) in town, IE on the streets...

Statikk HDM 05-20-2002 10:20 PM

It all makes sense now. You learn new slang everyday.
