Suggestion to Sydney and Abe babe

Hi Sydney and AbeBabe, our fearless leaders.

I mentioned this once months ago, Abe babe thought it would be a good idea at the time. As you both know our little friends Abe and Munch will be here very soon. And I was thinking that if I may make a suggestion to the two of you for opening up a speacial section for the game. " A SPOILERS SECTION".

A place where all of the lucky ones who will be playing the game this November can talk of the game and there experiences. And at the same time not take away from the others whom have to wait a little extra time.

Just a suggestion to the 2 masters of the ODDWORLD FORUMS. Thanks for hearing me out my fearless leaders. ;)

Elum 09-30-2001 11:29 PM

thats a good idea. when MO comes out, and we have topics about whats goin on in it...we will have to put *spoilers* in the subject line.

Sydney 09-30-2001 11:44 PM

Thanks for bringing this up again Steel Shark, it certainly needs to be addressed soon.

Your suggestion of a seperate forum sounds like a good idea, although it would be hard to moderate. Putting *spoilers* in the subject line would be even harder to enforce, so I guess a seperate forum would be the most successful way of dealing with the problem. Maybe we would have to put a notice at the top of General Oddworld Discussion, constantly informing people of the spoiler policy.

It's going to be hard to stop spoiling conversation from weaving itself into General Oddworld Discussion; it is going to happen sooner or later. Maybe for filtering purposes we can employ someone who will moderate the Spoiler Forum as well as General Oddworld Discussion, this member can moderate the two forums and be responsible for ensuring messages are in the right forum.

These are only ideas. Post your thoughts.

I wouldn't mind moderating that fourm, sience I visit here almost everyday. But I have no idea how to moderate?

Elum 10-01-2001 02:34 AM

ya'll er' goofy. haha. ;)

Oddipus 10-01-2001 09:59 AM

You know I asked the same question, so the answer for me is simple: give us a new spoiler forum! (pleaaaaaaaase)

Off course it can't be me to moderate it because:
* I don't want to read the spoilers (D'UH !)
* I don't visit the forum every day
* I don't want to be responsible for letting a spoiler slip through!

Come on now, we don't throw the title of "Moderator" around like confetti. It should also be known by now that those who ask rarely receive.

Besides, I think this topic was created to discuss a spoiler policy, not for moderator nominations. If we decide to follow this path, Abe Babe and I will choose who we think is the best person suitable (and willing) for the job.

sory *hangs head and walks off* :(

Edit: hehe i made this post at school :p

Please do do that I dont want to have the game spoiled for me and Im sure Im speaking for all the other fans that have to wait an extra couple of months Snif snif man I wish I lived in north america snif

I'd probably lean towards the additional forum also. I know some posts will be sure to sneak through (just like the off-topic ones nowdays), which will be the job of the potential moderator to move them.

But this seems like the better solution than people marking "spoiler" next to them. Cause I'm sure people will almost always forget this.

As for Moderators... I guess this pretty much goes for most major forums I've seen, that they are chosen. I guess you could say "Those that ask, do not receive". As with the current moderators, we will be on the lookout for a potential moderator for this.

Abe Babe...

Elum 10-02-2001 02:27 AM

I might have a solution.

WHY NOT MAKE A MUNCH'S ODDYSEE FORUM. that way, people with the game can discuss levels, hints, special stuff. Then, people who don't want it spoiled, don't have to go in it. get what I'm sayin? :D

Teal 10-02-2001 10:37 AM

Isn't there already a MO forum? Anyway.

Another forum sounds like a pretty good idea, but then it won't affect me as I won't be getting an Xbox... (*sobs*) I can't afford it on my puny student-loan and will be unlikely to be able to even think of affording one until I've at least started full time work after Uni (in three/four years time)...

Oh well, c'est la vie.

because it would take a lot more effort than making a new room and nobody would need to subscribe to that place as well as here...

Cloverfield 10-03-2001 04:04 AM

It depends how you interpret the terminology... a forum can be considered either the forums as a whole (like Oddworld Forums) or a section (like General Oddworld Discussion).

I wouldn't want to see a totally seperate forum because

a) You would have to sign up sepearately
b) Since it is separate, people wouldn't realize and you would get the posts on Munch.

IMO... I would see some kind of setup like this

Main Forums
- General Oddworld Discussion
- Munch's Oddysee Spoilers (???)
- Fan Corner
- Off-topic Discussion
Other Forums
- Employee Lounge
- Necrum Burial Grounds

We had usually tried to avoid multiple forums in the past, but this one certainly is needed.

Abe Babe...

Sydney 10-03-2001 04:24 AM

I agree, a complete new Bulletin Board would be out of the question, all we need is a seperate Spoiler Forum. I haven't caught you on ICQ, Abe Babe, as I wanted to speak to you about the spoiler policy. I put together a quick Spoiler Policy page that covers basically what we've all decided on here to be used when the time comes near.

I can't see any problems right now, but if anything needs to be added or changed, so be it.

Oddipus 10-03-2001 11:58 AM

OK, I'm glad to see you're working on it. I agree with the rules.
Thanx for listening to your members!

Gluk Schmuck 10-03-2001 01:23 PM

Spooce Spoiler Policy!

maybe a while after MO's been out all the posts could be moved to general...???

what about MO Help??? will that be in MO Spoilers or in OW Help???

Where did Oddworld RPG go to?

Gluk Schmuck 10-05-2001 01:11 PM

OW help's disapeared too!!!
don't know your own forums, AB...lol

Lampion 10-05-2001 05:07 PM

I agree that a separate forum for Munch spoilers is going to be the best solution, for a while. It also helps anybody who is trying to find info about Munch, because they are in only one place.

The Oddworld Help Forum can still be used for those members who want to ask for help on the game, I see no problem about that.
