Why does america allow itself to be whipped by Arab Oil exporting countries?
 

It seems to me that people all over the world seem to take no end of shit from a middle eastern country just because the country has some Texas tea. In America for example, a measley 6 percent of oil comes from the Middle East. Canada, Mexico, Venezuala, and Russia all produce more oil and have the capabilities to supply every drop of American oil. Not only that, their is a mondo reserve of oil at the gulf of Mexico and a little black gold in Anwar. So why is the prevailing attitude, "Let's not piss off Saudi Arabia, our lives wil be hell if they don't sell us about 5 percent of oil at ridiculously high prices" Texas offers incredibly cheap oil (well at least its cheaper than some crazy sheiks crude). Why not tap into that? Also, we could make nuclear power a top priority and REALLY cut down dependency. And hydroelectricity and solar power are becoming more feasible and advanced every day. I am also pissed off at the boycotts. Alright, you don't give us the oil or by our corn, well screw you we will find oil and buyers elsewhere and not sell you a damned busshel of grain! Then we will embargo the hell out of you. You don't want to piss of america or Britain or any other country that gets prcipitation, because they have laid the military smackdown on you time and time again, alright?

This may all be true, Statikk ... but aren't you glad people think up excuses NOT to piss off another country? Even if they're not valid?

I shall occrect you, Texas is not knee deep in oil and booming anymore. The big booming times were back in the 20s/30s. People here are acutlay having to contatnly drill and drill to find more. Alot different then one well (like Spindletop) producing 250,000 barrels a day, eh? Its bcome a much less profitable business. We dont have the ridiculous amount of oil to tap to. The Gulf of Mexico is where most companies are turning to, but thats geting more expensive I believe and oil drilling around the cost is not nearly as good as it was. I don't know much about the other places you named, but that sounds reasonalbe. And we should use solar energy and hydroelectricity should be used more (lets build those damn and conquer those raging rivers!). I'll say this as my opinion, without the oil, some of those Middle East countreis that are actualy NICE to the world would like fall down and cripple.

Your spot on there, casue all America does if another nation does not agree with it, is bomb the hell out of them. It's either my way or the high way with America.
