SeaRex 05-07-2002 06:17 PM

Silent Hill, I'm more keen torwards puzzle-ish games.

MojoMan220 05-08-2002 12:10 AM

Silent Hill is much creepier, but Resident Evil is just as good.

blood 05-08-2002 04:05 PM

I think all the resident evil games are good. The best is the third one NEMISIS.:fuzmad:

me too thats why i picked SH, its a very good game and creepy they should make alot of Horror games

Resident Evil... I like it more, Silent Hill is cool and creepier, but Resident Evil in my opinion has better gameplay and a better story. Code: Veronica is best anyway man;) And I think it was the 3rd, Survivor sucked and Nemisis, um sucked. But luckily #2 has best replay with Tofu and HUnk, B games and all that jazz.

Disgruntled Intern 05-09-2002 12:23 AM

Silent hill, simply because the RE title games have had some of the stupidest story lines/plots ever to exist....

Scientist #1:
"hey, I know! lets make some sort of virus that will mutate animals, and turn humans into shuffling, stumbling, groaning cannibals!"

Scientist #2:
"Hmmmm I dunno...what if the virus were to escape? then what would we do?"

Scientist #1:
"nothing! we'll all be dead! and for those of us who survive, no one will ever think to point a finger of blame at US! Our companies name is "umbrella" for christs sake!"

Scientist #2:
"ah, good point, Fred. Hey, want to go get some doughnuts?"

Scientist #1:
"ah, okay, but no sprinkles this time..."

Scientist #2
"shouldn't we lock up the virus?"

and so on and so forth. although silent hills plot[s] aren't very logical either, it's still a better game. alkeehawl makes me ramble.

Resi Evil. It had a good story line. The Silent Hill game was good...but it was like:

"Oh no...my daughter is lost in a mist filled, monster infested town...what do i do? Oh, i know...look for her instead of calling for help!!"

While the Resi evil stories had a continuing link...I.E Umbrella Corps. The last RE game was one of the better ones (Nemesis) Mainly due to the ability to make choices.

SeaRex 05-10-2002 06:26 PM

Silent Hill 2 had a continuing link... James's dead wife, and the town itself.

Speaking of Silent Hill 2, I beat it yesterday. (yay!) Man, everyone in that game is completely insane! Even James proved to be a real nut. But not as much as that Maria chick or that crazy Angela...

James: Ugh... It's hot as Hell in here...
Angela: Oh... you see it too... for me, it's like this all the time.

Creepy!

Well, at least things turned out well for James in the end. (I got the "correct" ending out of six endings)

way to go, Luke!
I thought the game was pretty great. It was kinda tough at times, but still really fun. Did you ever play the "other scenario"?
I unlocked it somehow, but never got a chance to play it...or rather, I never played it before I returned it to blockbuster. :|

SeaRex 05-11-2002 06:20 PM

The "other" scenario is "Born From A Wish", and is all about Maria. I got pretty far, but then I got stuck and had to take the game back. From what I can tell, she's pretty normal. I guess "something" happened to her to make her all freaky. Or maybe all those times she died was just James's imagination, or the black arts of the 2 Pyramid heads.

BTW, did you find Mary at the top of the hotel, or just Maria posing as Mary? Did you get the "Leave" ending?

Huge_Bro_Slig 05-11-2002 06:24 PM

I never beat the game, Luke....
I got to the part where you go down the well, and through the little maze thing, and have to "fight" eddie. I think that was his name. He was the fat one...
anyway, when I met maria, she was in the park, and didn't try to pose as marie..she introduced herself as maria, and was very coy..god, I think I might go buy the game tonight.
HBS..follow lukes advice, for all of our sakes. Also, if you want to make something you like look better, it would be a good idea to avoid short hand, punctuate your sentences, and try to sound atleast moderately intelligent. If it's not too much to ask, of course.

Jacob 05-11-2002 11:13 PM

Resi Evil games just had something about them...like a actual reason for the mishaps. SH was just this town were all was awry...Resi Evil had the 'Virus' and stuff!! Also...Resi Evil is now a film...and a good film at that.

Disgruntled Intern 05-12-2002 12:36 AM

Jacob, I see where you're coming from. What I liked about the SH series, is that there is no real set plot/script and deviation is easy, yet still allows you to enjoy the game...The RE titles were good, I'm just getting tired of them..the same plot, over and over and over and over....but that's just me..:)
and you're right, the movie was pretty good. The acting wasn't the best, and the zombies were kinda weak..but the dog chase and licker made up for what the movie lacked. ;)

Sydney 05-12-2002 01:31 AM

I like both series. Silent Hill is better at being eerie, while Resident Evil is more sucessful at being shocking and action-packed. I must say I enjoyed the plot of Resident Evil CODE: Veronica more than any of the Silent Hill games. Then again, Silent Hill 2's storyline was excellent.

I don't understand the end of the game. I got the "leave" ending and while it was happily melancholic, I can't help but feel there was no full resolution.

SeaRex 05-12-2002 05:22 PM

*SPOILER*

It was mainly symbolic. After killing Mary's Demon, James relizes that he has been fooling himself the whole time, and accepts that he killed Mary, not the disease. He has a vision of Mary, and she gives him the rest of her letter. The letter is just telling James that he should move on with his life, no matter what happened in the past. The "resolution" was that James has a clear concience, and can stop lying to himself about Mary... at least that's how I took it...

morphius 05-12-2002 11:50 PM

I enjoy the plot of resident evil, and the realistic detail in the stories. There are many good books on the resident evil series, and basically all of them describe the plot and happenings very well.
