Blue muds in AE
When you encounter the tear-xtractor, the muds hanging upside down in them are BLUE !? Why??????
|
I think its becouse there sad and being zapped all the time...
|
they are depressed and "must" cry...
they are constantly tortured, so it's normal they are depressed |
Thanks Xavier, congrats on fan of the month, you deserve it.
|
I believe that Mudokons use can change their skin pigmentation but not at will. They use the skin tones to express their feelings. Here are some examples.
Blue-sad, depressed, hopeless Red-angry, mad Green-no extreme emotions Light Green to Yellow-sick, drunk, ill White-in the case of the blind mudokons simply the lack of needing colors to show since their fellow workers couldn't see them anyways, in the case of tomahawkers and mudarchers it shows their status as warriors |
Hmm, maybe they're somewhat chameleoid, then... :)
|
The White Muds are actually white through lack of light.
|
Yeah, I agree Jacob. The white is due to lack of light but the fact that they can't see also lowers their inherent ability to change color. As for Teal's comment, yes I think mudokons are very much like chameleons. Most people think that chameleons change color for camoflouge but really it is mainly a mood thing.
Chameleon Colors: Black: Angry Black with orange spots: Angrier Yellow/pale color: sick, unhealthy Green: no extrem emotion, the brighter the healthier I think that Abe's ability to turn invisible is caused by the fact that the spirit rings give his skin and internal organs the ability to lose all pigmentation and become mostly clear. It also uses colors of the surrounding area to further make him disappear into the background. |
realy good TheKhanzumer
I completly agree whit you BTW: not only the spirits do that, a cola named "Invisible" too |
You know why Abe is blue? I do. Not cuas he is deppresse, no.
Some friends maid a bet with Abe, if he could hold Paramite juice in his mouth for ten minuets without swollowing... He won. -Alf at oddworld.com |
hmmm
I don't think it's that... In AO there was a stone who say only a blue skinned mud will pass (it was in the monsaic temple) so it must be more serious than a bet:fuzblink: |
:D ABE HOLDING PARAMITE JUICE IN HIS MOUTH :D
That would be funny, i guess paramite juice is blue then, why isn't it in AO or AE? Slurg Sundees, nice cold or hot, better with extra rot. Why aren't there signs of Slurg Sundees around Rupture Farms? |
paramite blood is red... why does abe become blue?
|
:
|
Maybe that bet thing was just one of the test for Abe to see if he's the choosen one...
and he skin turned blue to indicate he was ready. |
You realise legends rarely know details?
So it is quite possible that Abe went blue because of the bet, without that it had to be "any more serious". Because of the silly bet, he was turned to a legend. It's not like he's made of hero material, afterall! *laughs* I don't have any examples on me other than a somewhat morbid one which I won't post, but I'm sure there's a lot of movies where a small details makes someone qualify as the "prophesized saviour according to legend". So I don't see a contradiction, there, Xavier. - TyA |
okay okay...
ok for the paramite juice thing. but how does the ancestors know he had a blue skin? maybe they have a vision :D |
:
Yes, people have visions. Or they just randomly make up stuff to fill in blanks or keep people alive with hope. The world works like that. Oddworld, here, is no different. - TyA |
sorry...
I know it's a legend, but how does they invent that strange thing: "Only a mudokon with a skin of blue will pass" or something like that. at this stone http://www.oddworld.com/universe/nat...s/pop_left.jpg |
:
2: The stone has the legend written on it. ... so...? I don't see your argument, here... O.o;; - TyA |
ok...
if they don't know he would have a blue skin, why did they said it? it's a legend, ok, but a legend allways have something what's true. |
:
- TyA |
Yeah, Ok, I get it...
the savior would be blue we agree both and that said the legend. And Abe can be the savior cause he is blue too |
:
Anyway... I think this is just a load of bull from Alf. He always answers something funny like this, when people ask something stupid, or just something he doesn't know the answer to. I just think that Abe is blue, because he's special. |
:
*laughs* Nah, seriously now. What makes Abe special? Running around thinking "why am I doing this"? ;) Yes, we're arguing about something like that. It's fun! You should try it. *l* ^_^ - TyA |
I agree pinkgoth2, it's fun...
:D |
Ok, I'll start from this point: the profhecy of a blue skinned savior is an ancient one, probably it was first revealed when the mudokons turned into slaves of the Glukkons. We have already noticed that Oddworld, and speacially Mudokons'world is very magical and spiritual. There are bird portals, dead spirits who talk to alive people, mystic powers, the list goes on.
It is reasonable to believe that there is a spiritual world that leads all the happenings of Oddworld. thinking this way, it is perfectly reasonable to beleive that Abe was prepared to be the savior of the mudokon race, even before he was hatched from his egg. And as the spiritual world has the power to interfere into the "real" world, Abe's skin was defined as blue, to match the prophecy. Fate, it is. One he could never scape from. |
what you describe reminder me a lot of the feartable serie of oddworld...
The paralel spirit world oddworld... nice idee |
I think that Abe is blue for the reason Alf gave. Why would Alf lie? The paramite juice incident was just fate's strange way of fulfilling profecy.
As for Abe being special before he was born... yes. He was the Chosen One even before he was hatched. |
Before he was born...
why didn't give the spirits him a "good" brain? :D |
