Dripik's Medal of Honor: an OWI easter egg?

I suppose everybody knows that almost every videogame has some hidden features that are commonly known as easter eggs, put sparingly thoughtout the game by the game designers, programmers and artists, so that the observant gamer can be pleased and surprised by such discoveries inside the game.

Well, I've never seen a good quality picture of General Dripik before, but I've always wondered what all those medals he wears, actually mean. Official info says that Dripik is the most honored Glukkon of the Magog Cartel, and "when profits are up... a medal are awarded". I wonder what he did to earn this weird medal, in the picture below... :fuzconf:

To me, it looks like a man's head. Perhaps a member of the OWI crew?

The original picture can be found HERE, at www.gamewallpapers.com.

That pictures very purdy. Yeh, it prolly is a 'Easter Egg' and it does look like a man.

I'd noticed that before, and concluded it was Farzad Varahramyan. I could be wrong.

Xavier 04-09-2002 10:34 AM

yeah I saw it too
Farzad you say?
yeah possible

Mojo 04-09-2002 12:21 PM

Who's Farzad Varahramyan?

Xavier 04-09-2002 12:47 PM

he used to work at odd world he recently left.

that medal is pretty odd but funny.

I didn't mean to be the first person to find this out, I just thought it was interesting to mention that, since I'd never seen that medal before. Anyway, I don't think it is Farzard, because he is not responsible for the details in the final versions of the characters. the 3D artists and animators do that.

So, I guess the man in the medal is one of the 3D artists who designed Dripik, not Farzard.

Really, could you confirm that info provinding a link to an official announcement, please?

That's a tragedy. :( I'd also like some confirmation.

And I didn't mean to appear as though I was trying to steal your glory. It's an interesting easter egg and I'm glad you posted it for everyone to see.

the guy is a bit stereotypic...
I mean it's a man, but not ONE man, it can be evryone

***hey, it's me*** :D

MojoMan220 04-10-2002 05:44 PM

Hey that's pretty neat; I'm sure there are more in other pictures.:) :)

Alf 04-10-2002 11:00 PM

Yes, the image of the "man" on the medal is indeed Farzad.
The modeler responsible for Dripiks' uniform and medals showed honor to Farzad as creator of Dripik.

Dequibenzo 04-10-2002 11:29 PM

Whoo, well, it's hard to argue with Alf.
I never knew they were called easter eggs, but I remember finding one in AE also, though I can't for the life of me recall where. I know it's in one of the necrum vaults- there's a rock with a crack shaped like Farzad's signiture in it.

Lampion 04-11-2002 04:12 AM

Thanks, Alf, for making that clear to us :). I reckon Sydney was right, then. Looking a photo of Farzard earlier today, I had to agree that the guy on the medal really looks like him...

Xavier 04-11-2002 05:13 AM

thanx Alf, now we are shure
and wath about that somber Farzad left story ?
