Do they give you placebos, or does the mechanical thingies they give munch for real? I mean, if they give him those mechanical powers to posses machines, is it all in his head?

About the implant Much recieves from the Vikkers, I'm not sure why they do that.
They seem to be aware that Munch is the last gabbit (one of the Vikkers say so: "That's the last damn Gabbit, that is!!!").
I suppose they installed the head device just to make scientific experiments, but they didnt kow exactly wht Much could do with it. Maybe they get very much surprised when Munch started to possess machines all over the place, opened the Fuzzles cages and mananged to scape from the Vikkers Lab.

The interns, I dunno, I think their guns works just like othr guns based on Moolah (slig guns, for instance). They all use addictive products to turn you into a damn stupid zombie slave...
