    Re: A survey...

    Do you believe God exists?
Yes, I believe that there is a being known as God, that is the creator of everything that exists.

Do you believe God is omnipotent (all-powerful)?
Yes, I believe that God has the power over everything that exists.

Do you believe God is omniscent (all-knowing)?
Yes, I believe that God knows everything, and is conscious of everything that happens or exists.

Do you believe God is omnipresent (everywhere)?
Yes, I believe that God is everywhere, from here, to the boundaries of the known Universe, and beyound.

Do you believe God can influence people's actions?
The word "influence" can be interpreted by many diferent ways, like "control, inspire, advice, guide...". I believe in free-will. I also believe that God does inspire people's actions, by a variety of ways, but God doesn't control. It could be done, but if it was done, we could claim that some of our actions were not our responsability. It is not the point. the point is : we are totally responsible of our actions, and we have to accept the consequences of that.

Do you believe God is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)?
I believe that the plan of God is good, hence, I believe that God is good.

Do you believe the Devil exists?
No, I don't believe that a impersonated creature called The Devil exists. I believe that this concept was created by humanity based on the images, episodes, and thoughts created by a myriad of sufering spirits that inhabit Earth. This idea needs further explanation, but I'll stop here, for now.

Based on the last answer, I think it is unnecessary to continue, since the following questions have no answers.

    Surfacing 03-12-2002 04:34 AM

    Do you belive God exists?
    No

Do you belive God is omnipotent (all-powerful)?
    No

Do you belive God is omniscent (all-knowing)?
    No

Do you belive God is omnipresent (everywhere)?
    No

Do you belive God can influence people's actions?
    Yes

Do you belive God is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)?
Good, why else would people worship it?

Do you belive the Devil exists?
    Yes

Do you belive the Devil is omnipotent (all-powerful)?
    No

Do you belive the Devil is omniscent (all-knowing)?
    No

Do you belive the Devil is omnipresent (everywhere)?
    Yes

Do you belive the Devil can influence people's actions?
    Yes
Do you belive the Devil is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)?
Well if god is good then what the hell do you think makes the devil??? BAD!

    Lampion 03-12-2002 05:47 AM

Com'on, folks, your answers have been too shallow. Why don't you explain the reasons of why do you believe this or that?
    :

    By Surfacing:
    Do you believe God exists?
    No

Do you believe God can influence people's actions?
    Yes
I see an inconsistence here, Surfacing. How can God influence people if you believe God doesn't exist?
    :

    By Surfacing, Abe-Son and Un-Amused:
Do you believe the Devil is omniscent (all-knowing)?
    No

Do you believe the Devil is omnipresent (everywhere)?
    Yes
Could anyone of you explain why the Devil, the way you believe, cannot be omnisicent, since he is already everywhere?

    Teal 03-12-2002 06:11 AM

While I believe there's SOMEthing out there, I wouldn't go so far as to rigidly define it as two deities. My brain won't let me believe that there's someone or something having some kind of controlling influence over eveything (besides, that just let's people shift the blame off themselves, somewhat - "It wasn't me, the devil told me to do it"). After all, there's so many things we can't explain by science or otherwise... There's SOMEthing. But not a definite god or devil. I have utmost respect for those people who CAN believe in something; I just... can't.

    ODDBODD 03-12-2002 08:14 AM

    Do you belive God exists?
I believe god exists, i believe that there is a caring spirit who had created the most perfect and complex and intelligent universe.

Do you belive God is omnipotent (all-powerful)?
God is infamable (the greatest), if anyone is to prove this wrong all will not exist and god will be destroyed

Do you belive God is omniscent (all-knowing)?
God knows and judges everything that happens on earth or any other place. He does decide our fate because he gave us the power of free will. We control our own fate

Do you belive God is omnipresent (everywhere)?
If god needs to be omniscentent he needs to be everywhere

Do you belive God can influence people's actions?
Only your concoince can, god just judges you

Do you belive God is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)?
God is the only being that you can never look in the face and hate. He is so loving and it hurts to know that he cries over what we do to his creation. He loves us so much that he gave us the choice not believe in him

Do you belive the Devil exists?
i believe that there is an evil that tries to rule over god and prove him infamable so that the evil can rule.

Do you belive the Devil is omnipotent (all-powerful)?
The devil is under gods power and is forced to lie in the depths of hell killing time by torturing souls.

Do you belive the Devil is omniscent (all-knowing)?
Devil is only omniscent because god allows it.

Do you belive the Devil is omnipresent (everywhere)?
The devil can only watch not conrtol actions, we do

Do you belive the Devil can influence people's actions?
The power of evil is a great power that is easy to cross into, people with the wrong minds and are greedy try to enter and control evil. But is consumed in the end

Do you belive the Devil is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)?
The devil is all evil in the world, There is a theory that i have that shows a story about the existance of the universe.

I didn't understand that at first but I thought about it for a few seconds and now I do!

    An analogy:
There is a donut. You are told not to eat the donut. You are told that if you eat the donut you will be killed. You don't want to be killed. You willl not be killed if you eat the donut.
You will not eat the donut.

I belive God can influence people's actions even though I do not belive God exists.

    Did that all make sense?

    Doug 03-12-2002 01:56 PM

You completely lost me with the donut analogy, but I think the question would be better phrased: "Do you believe that people's belief in God can influence their actions?"

I agree with Lampion that you can't believe that God does not exist and then assert that God can influence anything. That does not compute, Will Robinson. Perhaps more to the point, if you don't believe in God but your actions are influenced by God, you are either too easily influenced (i.e., by a non-existent entity) or are kidding yourself about the existence of God. But certainly it is possible, and actually likely, that the actions of people that believe in God are influenced by that belief.

    Let's go get a donut!

    Un-Amused 03-12-2002 05:36 PM

    Ummmm...

Im now actually starting to think that Lucifer is evil...cos i read this thing...that said something about 'Lucifer prowling on the people who are open to him being good' And thats basically some of the forumers...as we do say that he is good...so...we'r going to Hell...yey...i get to see Daddy!! *Claps* YEY!!

Er... ok, then the person who told you influenced you? Er, wait, no, that means the person is a physical manifestation and that he/she actually influenced you on purpose... That means you would have to believe in the person... so, that doesn't work... then the donut told you? Wait, no... That doesn't make sense. Are you hallucinating? Er... no... I'm confused, Tom...

I think what Surf means is that, people who believe in God may stop doing something, because they think that he will not approve, or because they "love" God... Not that God actually caused them to do it, but they didn't do it because they believed in God, wanting to be religious. In other words, they feel like they should or shouldn't do something because of the bible, or other religious beliefs. I actually think that was quite intelligent of Surf.

Edit: Oh crap! My 600th post and I forgot to celebrate! I was going to make a special post for this! Damn... Well, yay! *throws confetti* My 600th post! Going for the big 666! ;) *eats donut* Oops... Oh no... *dies from eating the donut*

The questions said 'people's actions', I wasn't necisarily(sp) refering to the person answering the questions.

Example: I don't belive in God but Mr Nobody does. Norbert Nobody belives that he will be punished if he does wrong therefore he is a good little alliterated boy. From my point of view, there is no God but NN is still acting in fear of God.
I belive there is no God yet I belive the impression of God inside Norbert's psyche influences his decisions.

That makes total sense... Just what I was thinking Surf meant. But I still don't get the donut analogy... I am totally confused by your donut ramblings.

If it makes the slightest difference, Tom, than I understand your Donut analogy. It's a good example.

    *hopes that makes more sense*

I'm absolutely with you now, Tom, and I agree.

The confusion lies in the ambiguity in the later question as to what is influencing the people's actions. If you don't believe in God, you can't believe that God is the motivating force. It is the individual's belief that God exists that is the motivating force.

How about a donut analogy? Question 1: Is there a donut left in the box? Answer: No. Question 2: Is it a jelly donut or a glazed donut? If the person who just answered no to Question 1 answers Question 2, there is a logical inconsistency. (If he says "chocolate," he's just a contrary bastard.)

I know we don't really have a disagreement here, I'm just having a lot of fun with these donuts! :D God, I just love donuts!

Do you belive God exists? Yes

Do you belive God is omnipotent (all-powerful)? Yes

Do you belive God is omniscent (all-knowing)? Yes

Do you belive God is omnipresent (everywhere)? Yes

Do you belive God can influence people's actions? Yes and no. God can try and choose our path, but ultimmally, as creatures of free will, we decide our own path

Do you belive God is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)? God can be both good and bad. He can give life and take life. He can help you make all the money in the world, and then have everything fall apart.

Do you belive the Devil exists? No

Do you belive the Devil is omnipotent (all-powerful)? Only if you give him a name and you believe he does.

Do you belive the Devil is omniscent (all-knowing)? No

Do you belive the Devil is omnipresent (everywhere)? Evil is always everywhere.

Do you belive the Devil can influence people's actions? Anything evil that you give a name can. If it has no name it can only work through your own fear.

Do you belive the Devil is good, bad, indifferent or other (please state)? If he has no name he has no power. But if you give evil a name, then yes it is bad.

    Danny 03-12-2002 08:00 PM

I do not believe that God or the Devil exist. However, I do not actively disbelieve in them, I simply believe that the burden of proof is on the Theist, not the Atheist, and I have yet to see any evidence either way...

However, this belief system of mine leaves the possibility of God(s) existing, and so I think I will elaborate on what form It would take if it existed:

I believe that God and the Devil would be one and the same. Two sides of the same being, if you will. Possibly Schizophrenic, but one being nonetheless... And I haven't a clue whether it'd be Good, Bad, Indifferent, or have Mood Swings [although, judging by the available evidence, he/she/it's a sick bastard...]
