Happy, Sad, angry, wacky, depressed, and blind Mud's in Munch's Exoddus?
Mann I hope we get to see Muds with different emotions in the next game. I wounder why Lorn Lanning left that element out of the game. It would be cool to see blind Muds walking around in a 3D enviorment. Or see sick Mud's and wacky Muds all hooked up on gas and saul storm brew.
Maybe we will see new feelings introduced for Munch's Exoddus.:fuzblink: |
Yeah, I like when we can hit the sad Mudokon and it'll hit himself until he dies.:(
I like the mad ones too. |
It would be a good idea but I hope OWI will be more imaginative...
|
yup
yeahi wanna c more emoctions
|
I wanted to see those emotion make an appearance in MO. I mean, wouldn't you be pissd off or upset if you were a scrub?!? Maybe include other emotions too, like excitement or mental insanity. But OWI screwed up MO by not including much of their ingeniously original artificail intelligence game engine they had in AE and as a result, the gamespeak was pitifully restricted to the main characters. And Abe had more gamespeak to use than the main character, Munch. Ah, never mind. I am not the CEO of OWI so I can't tell them how to make their products. But don't listen to me because I think MO was a complete flop, despite it being good game, it should have (and easily could have) been better.
|
Well at least we get to slap Muds in MO ya know.:fuzvamp:
|
Blind mudokons.....
Blind mudokons would be too hard in 3D. But sad/angry/etc.... muds would be cool too see again.
|
Blind ones too hard?... Nar... you need some difficulty to make it fun.
But I think it would be cool if there was a more brord band set of emotions a bit like a palet of colours... Like a Mudukon might have verying degrees of Depretion, Anger, and Fear and there opposit feelings... Aswell as that they might have different disabilitys and disorrders like Blindness (a olddy and a goody), Deefness, Muteness, being a Ampuety, Insanity, and plane Stupidity. And wouldn't it be cool if the Muds and other creatures talk to each other and thus trasmiting emotions through out a community, But also try and fix their own problems and stuff by caring about eachother... :) ;) :) |
blind would be fun, they will change of direction evry time you say "foolow-me"
like a slalom between mines |
I think that we've already seen a varying level bit- In AO and AE, some Mudokons take longer to respond, same with some sligs. But, yeah, have some be more depressed than others, that'd be cool. And I like the mental insanity one- if you tell them to follow you, they do a random other command, like attack or work, and when you open a bird portal, they run screaming from it in fear. But, alas, I think that we're doomed to less and less complicated game dynamics, more and more graphic and animation detail as time goes on in the oddworld series. It seems to be the way the winds are blowing.
|
Yes! More emotions would be cool!
|
That would add a whole lot variety to oddworlds now 3D environments, but the only thing I'm afraid of is the gamespeak might get too complicated again.
|
yeah that's an other thing I want...
more gamespeak but not the one ODDBODD invented http://www.geocities.com/oddbodd_4/gamespeakmadness.jpg hehehe funny |
I honestly think Lorn Lanning has that plan for future games. It's perfect it adds to the realisem ya know?;)
|
yeah...
that would be cool, and what if you could get ones that ran and attacked abe when they see him?
|
You know what I'd think would be nice? All of the above. And maybe if Muds could get certain deseases,or mental cases, like being Anorexic.Although some of them are already skinny enough...
|
Or maybe even Autistic! A mudokon would simply nod it's head to the side, sit still, and not say anything. Then if something decides to beat it.. it takes other actions. ionno about the upcoming stuff. But I wish I did :D
|
The hole point of Mudukons having physical problems would be that they are like that because they where abused by industral creatures... Autisum is natural and just makes you feel sad, not angry towards someone, because no one inflicted it apon them...
... However if Vykkers had done it to em then that would be good because its bad... You know what I mean?:fuzconf: |
and what about the toxic mudokons...
remember htere is all ready a pic of a toxic mudokon some mudokons phisical hurted, like the, "I had a bad time" one |
What if the sligs had emotions implemented into them? Will that add a new twist to Oddworld? interesting.:fuzblink:
|
Hmm, first people want to see more of Munch, now they want more of the Mudokons. You have to understand that you can't focus everywhere at once. Mudokon emotions would be a nice feature of ME, but it really shouldn't distract us from Munch's plights against animal cruelty.
I think it was Khanz who suggested the excellent idea of having Fuzzles with various ailments that you had to find a way around. Like having Fuzzles stuffed full of Baby Chow that you can only move with a crane or conveyor belt, or perhaps some pretty coloured ones with bits and pieces sticking out of them, just for variety. |
yes, but I would be nice to have the mudokons emotions back.
cause, In AE they have them and suddenly they lost their emotions in MO. Max, we don't want to focus, we just want lots of features :fuzwink: |
can any-one think of a console with enough buttons for MO's gamespeak and ones like "sorry"?
|
well imagine a controller as for the game Tekki
:D |
My avoiding the whole 'which console is better' debate has left me pretty ignorant as to the technical attributes to the Xbox, but I thought that the A, B, Y and Z buttons have 263 (or whatever) degrees of pressure that can be recognised.
Feel free to humiliate me. It's not as if I'm certain of where I stand with this. |
yes Max, but I don't think OWI will make more then 2 "words" per button.
imagine: find the right pressure for say one of the 263 words. the "Steel Battalion" (or Tekki) controler is simply amasing, exactly what we need for all that GameSpeak http://a333.g.akamai.net/f/333/7712/...00178796_2.jpg |
sad angry wacky ...........
yeah good idea it would be cool:) it might be annoying:)
|
With the Blind Muds you should be able to hold their hands and drag them around like Ico. GTA: Vice City sounds good, if the PS2 can do it the X-Box should be able to do 7 times better. I wanna see stuff like GTA: VC, but Oddworldish please people...
|
complexity vs simplicity
I think OWI should definitely go for diversity in their games as far as speech and emotions for their characters go. I would love to see many different looking mudokons with different personalities. I think it would be cool for them to make "Easter egg" mudokons whith really unique personalities.
But I also hate having to memorize a lot of different things so I think that OWI should find a safe place between complex and simple. So far they have done a good job. P.S. And yes I think I mentioned the fuzzle idea. I still think it would be really neat. P.P.S. I don't know why I am stuck on this, but for some reason I really want to see mudokon entertainers dressed up as clowns who work in circuses owned by glukkons. |
:
Anyway, back onto the subject... one thing I like about the Oddworld games is the uniquness. The gamespeak from the Abe games was unique to those games, and Munch bought in a new format of game speak. For a console I think that game speak needs to be kept very simple, and Oddworld achieved this with Munch's Oddysee. The gamespeak on the PS games took some getting used to, as you had to use different button combinations. The only improvement I would like to see if a larger range of things for Abe/Munch and the Mudokons to say and how they say it. This could be based around the environment that they are in (i.e. they may sound more happy and enthusiastic if in a native environment, and may sound sad if they are slaves) or also the situation they are in (i.e. if they have just been freed). Oddworld did start a range of expressions in Munch, but as I said, to expand it a lot more would be a wonderful improvement. Abe Babe... |
