What would you class as insulting?

I find it annoying when a certain person, namely Paul King (whom I'd kill if the opportunity arose >:( ), says '****ing pouf' to me and such. But the problem with that is that it's inteneded to be insulting when it's just plain annoying! He's a bully that can't even insult someone, what a failure! In fact, if he called me anything that I find insulting I'd probably think he was joking!

I'd consider the following as insulting,

• Faschist;
  
• Fundamentalist;
  
• Right-wing;
  
• Nazi;
  
• BNP member;
  
• NF member.

I can't think of any more at the moment.

I'd classify that list as offensive rather than insulting.

To me, insulting someone is belittling them and making them feel insignificant or inferior. Making fun of something people can't help is the worst kind of insult (from my POV). If someone tells me I smell, I don't mind because I can have a shower and the problem is gone. If someone tells me I'm fat or ugly (or 'buttaz' as it's called in my school), I don't mind because I know it's not true. But when someone makes fun of my stammer, which I've always had and is still here despite speech-therapy, it makes me want to weep with despair and explode with frustration. I often end up screaming, 'I CAN'T HELP IT, YOU BASTARD!' at them. Equally bad is when they accuse me of not having a stammer at all, and that I'm doing it for attention.

Middlesboogie is right. It's more offensive than insulting.

Insulting to me, is like someone saying "Oi you b****h!"
or "You're ugly or fat!" :( Insults are just annoying and hurtful

Yep. There offensive. Something more... eh...dandy? No. Bonesack, or blimp, is what i call insulting.

I am quite good at not being offended by things. Basically, I've worked out a win-win way of thinking about these things:

If someone calls me something that is blatantly not true, like they call me a fascist, say I have no life, or just call me fat or something, I shrug it off because I know it's not true and they know it's not true, so there is no reason to get offended.

If someone calls me something that blatantly is true, like a Hippy or something, I just shrug it off because it's perfectly true, and so isn't really insulting or offensive.

In fact, the only things I really get offended about are:

a) People insulting my hair, and

b) Things that are true, but I like to pretend aren't. I don't like it when I am told I am being patronising, as I know in my heart that it's probably true, but I don't like it being true. I can't think of anything else like this offhand, but this is the kind of thing I mean.

Like Tom, I find the use of words like "Gay" as an insult quite moronic. I think it's depressing to still live in a world where homosexuality is considered insulting. Even in York, I hear the word bandied about a lot (although people in my year and older have, for the most part, grown out of it).

Why would you get offened if you got called a Nazi? they were very strong in the war, not something i would just laugh off, sure there intensions were bad but they were still an extremly strong force that almost rules the entire world.

How do respond to that? I am shocked to the core that you consider the Nazis to be something you would like to be associated with....

Besides, they may have been strong in the war, but who won it, eh? WHO WON IT? ;)

Are you picking on me dude, i still respect but if you keep picking on me i wll lose that respect, and yeah i know the alleys won but they were up againest a strong enemy,besides i'm glad the alleys won i would'nt want hitler ruling the world either, stop acting like a said the Nazi rule!

I'm waiting for the Sixth Form to weed-out the idiots who think it's insulting to call me that! Everyone who's bullied me about it are in band 2 therefore it's less likely they will get into the Sixth Form!

Man, I get called "Nazi" or "Satanic" all the time. I don't find it offensive becuase:
1. It's not true
2. They are ignorant
3. Being a punk scares people off enough, but having stupid people think that Satan is on my side will surely keep them away from me!
4. They are ignorant

What wrong with being called Satanic? You know Satan does have his worshippers.;)

Of course I'm not picking on you. I am simply dumbfounded that you would defend the Nazis in any way, shape, or form. They may have had their good points, but their bad points more than counteract them. In fact, their good points pale into insignificance beside their bad points...

You think i'm defending them? i'm just saying how strong of an enemy they were, sorry if you think i'm defending them that was not my intensions.

I apologise if I have misinterpreted you, but I think you can see how saying that being called a Nazi is not an insult could easily be construed as defending them...

Yeah, that list is offensive. Mostly Predjudice. How would you feel if I find bisexuals insulting or atheist people? (I really don't it's an example so don't scold at me please!:D)

Insulting is like calling someone stupid or something.

I dislike criticism of people who got help for psychological help and than call people nutccases. It angers me to no end, i turn into a p-o-ed force to be reckoned with! Well, on the nazi thing, what kind of lame crap is that, I have yet to see someone who is a full fledged one, though I know they must be out there.

She thinks they are Sins, but I suppose she doesn't find them insulting because she knows that she isn't one of them. Not by a long chalk...

Yeah, they are sexualities. Not insults.

Insults should be seen as a grain of salt. If you let them bother you then the insulter has gotten his/her desired effect. If you shrug them off or come back with a better insult in return, then the insulter got what was coming to them.

Personally, I don't like un-original insults. We have a brain for a reason. If you can't think up an original insult then don't bother.

The only thing that insults me is being called a 'Paedo' and that never happens cos peeps dont stoop that low in my skool. But i get called loads...one was 'Lord of the Rings' wich...alth0 very disgusting...did make me laugh at the time...it was original...and i congratulated him 4 that...then got him beaten up...ahhhh...the power/

Speaking of being called famous film-related things...

Some iccle kiddies at my school call me Harry Potter! Heh! The strange thing is that they seem to be saying it as if I should be offended by being compared to a famous wizard/famous actor.

Yes, but its so much more fun to worship discrepant demons that no one has really heard of.
