The right to Judge.
Do we have the right to judge people???
We all think that we are better than at least one person in the world. Agreed. Even if we don't know that person, we think we are better than him/her. Now who gave us that right??? Who are we to say that we are better??? A world where everyone would be treated as equal would never happen. Why??? Because then, we couldn't feel good about ourselves. Without someone worse off than us we would be depressed. Why??? Because we wouldn't think of everyone as equal, we would think they are better than us, which leads to hatred. So as much as we an equal world would seem good, it would lead to War. So in reality, us judging people, which seems so wrong, is actually good. Because a world as equals would lead to destruction. |

You just answered your own question. |
lol he did too.... close topic.

Thinking is hard!
I think he wanted us to THINK about it.

(Yes I know, thinking is hard!) |

Opinion 2: Judging people is bad, but we all do it, and we can't help it. The trick is to judge others by your own standards, not by some abstract "objective" morals... |
actually judging people is a good thing, judging people before you truely know them is deffinatly bad.

Edit: Good point, Steve.

We have to make judgements, otherwise we wouldn't be able to do anything. Philosophically, we're all equal, but of course we aren't equal genetically and biologically.
If someone kills another person, someone might automatically come to the conclusion that the killer is a psycho that needs to be locked up. But learning about the circumstances of the killing might alter our judgement. *shrugs* |
"Of all sinners I am the worst" Apostle Paul. A trustworthy saying indeed. We all say someone is worse than us to convince ourselves that we are better than others."I would never kill" etc. It is trying to cover up the darkside in you when you know it won't work. Of course a murderer, etc. is horrible, but what exactly do we mean by equal here? Ah we're both about the same"goodness" and morality or, I respect you and will not mistreat you but that doesn't mean you won't be punished and judged. All men are created equal but some are more equal than others isn't what I think at all. If you judge someone bya standard of "morality" be prepared to be judged by the same standard. Also, Wolfpac, do I really need to convince myself that a guy is worse off than me to fell better about myself. Taking delight in the pain of others doesn't make me feel happy. Do you need that crutch? Oh, wow someone is being beaten now, i feel so good, oh look a race judge to be inferior, oh i'm elated that I'm not one of these! NOT! I don't get my jollies by sick things like that.
